Speaker system in the 2011 535i

Does anyone know what type of speaker system comes in the new 535i? The dealer told me between Bose or Harmon Karmen. Would like to know. Thank you. P.

I didn't know it was either one but if I had to guess I would say Harmon kardon

If it's the premium 16 speaker then it's neither - it's designed by DIRAC and made by BMW. If the 12 speaker then it's BMWs own.

Digital signal processing (DSP) technology is provided by Dirac. Dirac works with Lear Corporation which make me suspect that they supply the speakers and amp.

if the F10 had a bmw sound system I would have not even remotely considered the purchase! Dirac makes a great oem sound system.

Actually, the amplifier in the Professional (or Premium in the US) system is made by Harman as is the Combox. Not sure of Dirac's involvement, but the electronics are definately Harman.

Harman Kardon, Becker and JBL are all subsidiary companies of Harman.

According to Harman they supply to the 1-, 3- and X1 series. Not the (F10/F11) 5 series. Which is a good thing in my view.

What do they fit for standard in the UK spec F10's ?? , cause imo its very good as a box standard speaker set up....

Don't care what they say - the equipment in my F10 has Harman stickers all over it!

I can't help wondering what the reason is for so much preoccupation with the car's sound system. A car surely isn't a good listening environment — even a relatively quiet car like the F10.
