MP3 discs in an E92? AAARGH!
OK, so after a dozen discs, can anyone advise on the best way to write MP3 discs for the Professional head unit in my 2006 E92?
The only one I've got to work so far is itunes, but that doesn't allow me to create subfolders, and having 130 tracks in a linear fashion is a total PITA. It doesn't like it if I just write a data CD, use Windows MP, drag to disc or use Roxio. Its driving me mad!!!! |

Works for me on my Pro unit but you can use roxio or nero and use the jukebox Mp3 burning and that works too.

WTF are you sure they are mp3 and not AAC /WMA etc? Similar are you sure you are using CDs and not DVDs?
MP3 on standard prof nav with subfolders etc etc is all fine mate. So avoiding the obvious (and apologies for the insult with the obvious questions) then sounds like you should get this checked out by dealer..

If you are writing a 'data' CDROM, make sure you are 'closing' or 'finalising' the disk.
An open format disk wont play in many domestic players, only a PC drive. Steve.

Any MP3 CD I've made is split into albums but the OP has 130 tracks in one folder which appears to be the problem. I use Nero too. |

Discs ripped from Itunes play fine, but because apple are homo's they don't like you copying music to CD's which is why they only give you the most basic burning application. Have found a post on here from someone saying that they had issues with the sampling rate, and once converted to 44.1khz it played fine, maybe its that. |

16 bit/44.1khz is the redbook CD standard so it would make sense if they've not been getting ripped at that rate
Bet it won't do any of my HD 24/96 files either, but I may just try |

Huzzah!
I downloaded easy CD-DA extractor (its fully free for 30 days) and converted my entire library to 256kb/s @ 44.1 SR (including a bunch of AAC and WMA) then went through with tag & rename (which needed doing anyway). Then burned it with CD Burner XP (a free version of Nero's basic functions). My gut instinct is that it was Vistas inbuilt burning software at fault (since i-tunes worked fine), as most of the stuff was sampled at 44.1 CBR and hasn't actually changed. Result |

Indeed, and the irony is that as a microsoft developer I have access to every piece of microsoft software, so windows 7 is ready for the taking.
But last time someone I know went from Vista to 7, they lost a load of work, and I can't take that risk, I just don't have time! |

assuming windows..
1. put cd-r in drive (NOT RW) 2. open my computer 3. open blank cd in file explorer 4. create 'how you want your cd to look' in a folder on your desktop 5. drag the contents of the folder you just made to the open CD window (they go grey) 6. click burn 7. select create data cd 8. stick in car, and play! |
