We can also make special-order pipes for any valve if need be. |

It's all subjective.....there is no ONE best BOV as they all pretty much work the same. Except the first gen of AA BOV, as they use the older spring and diaphragm design in their horns (this was told to me by AA and HPF). because my AA BOV was leaking boost due to the valve not closing all the way. But that was from normal wear and tear more than anything, as I've had that for about 4 years on a tuned car.....
So I would suggest going with synapse or HKS......

If you want your car to sound like rice, HKS FTW.

I'm quite satisfied with the synapse kit. Not super loud, but you can definitely hear it. Check it out:

Do the stock DV's leak once you increase boost with a tune requiring you to add either a BOV or upgraded DV's? Or is the BOV added just for the sound? I'm assuming the DV's don't recirculate metered air, so replacing the DV's with a BOV doesn't cause the car to run rich?
I'm a noob when it comes to this on a BMW. I come from the world of DSM's.

Check out our Blow Off Valves. They havent been marketed very much but they are great sounding, installation is really easy (they just snap in with our custom connectors). Here is the Install video so you can see how easy they are and how they sound.

I am personally a fan of DV's. I think a Blowoff Valve isn't meant for our cars. Also, a DV keeps the air into the engine which is how BMW designed the motor.

Face palm..........do your research..........DV or BOV doesn't matter on our car. The main diff is T-MAP vs MAF sensors and NOT just because our car 'came' with a DV bs..........

This is what I run on my personal car.
http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/B...duct_info.html You can't go wrong with a TiAL or Synapse blow off valve. They are both pull-type pistons so under vacuum they are slightly open and when in boost they are forced shut. This will insure that they won't leak under high boost. The TiAL using a diaphragm where the synapse doesn't. The videos from Synapse show the reaction time to be much quicker then a TiAL. In my opinion the TiAL is a better valve due to the diaphragm. Anytime you have heat and metal you have slight warping or variations, the diaphragm insures a proper seal. This is under extreme circumstances though. If you look at F1 and other cars makings over 1000hp they always use diaphragms to insure a proper seal. Good Luck! Michael |
