Folks,

re: my stolen rims+tires that occurred today. Any help finding my stolen rim + tire set would be really appreciated. It's a long shot, but with your collective help, anything is possible.

This morning around 10 am my neighbour wakes me up and informs me that someone has stolen my rims and tires!?! I thought he was joking, and grabbed my camera and went down into the garage and found the car on a jack (drivers side) and cinder block (right side). Looked like a professional job and targeted. No other car (there was a 06' 330i parked closed to mine with OEM 17" rims untouched) had any vandalism or broken into.

So my request is if you see the following spec. rims and tires for sale on kijiji.ca/craigslist/Facebook Marketplace/autotrader.ca - please post the link on this thread and let me know:

Tires: 4 Bridgestone Blizzak WS70's 225/45R17 [Non RFT's]
Rims: 4 Rial Salerno's (5 spoke)
Note: BMW centre caps and Nitrogen valve caps installed
They left the lug nuts...

I have already filed an official police report (they actually came to inspect the car for finger prints), along with an Insurance claim and the car has been towed to the dealer for a thorough inspection and repairs. Wont happen till Tuesday and now I am without a car I'm also going to have to pony up $500 to pay the insurance company as a deductible, ugh.

Luckily I had my summer tires and rims and had my tow guy install them so he could tow the car after the cops arrived.

What a nightmare. I have to admit it could have been worse but shite, what a pain in the a$# to go through on a long weekend. I hope we can find these punks. I just bought this set from TireRack.com back in Nov. 2010.

Update: For the folks asking about wheel locks, do a search on youtube and see how easy it is to unlock wheel locks. They are a deterrent, not FAIL PROOF. These punks knew exactly what they were doing. They had gloves on, were super quick (no one saw them!?!) and brought a jack and fricken cinder block to add insult to the injury.

Sorry to hear that man. I have the exact same rim and tire set from tirerack too. Was the parking garage not a gated one? (ie. remote required to open gates)?

Thanks man. I did 'A LOT' of research before getting this package and went to Michigan to pick them up from my brother's place and yep, even paid duties+tax bringing them into Canada.

RE: The parking garage - it can only be accessed by a key (older building), so my theory is either:

a. Someone targeted my car and knows someone who resides in my building and got the key from them (I know, how brutal would that be...your own neighbour!?!)

OR

b. These punks got inside the garage when a car entered the garage (door stays open for about 120 seconds or so).

Sucks, but what can you do right? Gotta move on. Thanks for your support!

Any security cameras in your parkade? Did you have any wheel locks installed?

Btw, where in Ontario do you live in? Likely these guys live in the area or frequent the area in order to target your car. If they sell them on Craigslist or Kijiji, they probably won't be going too far to sell them either.

Likely too they'd be selling them individually - tires and rims separately.

@Soni: For someone who knows what they are doing, getting rims off with wheel locks installed (& without the specific wheel lock key) is child's play. Search for it on Youtube, you will be horrified by what you see and how fast someone can take rims off with wheel locks. Unfortunately, my car was exclusively targeted in this case and these guys were determined to take off with the rims+tires.

Spoke to the buillding management, they are in btw. maintenance and upgrading the VHS (!?!) systems to Digital format and thus no video was taken. When I spoke to the cops, they said even with camera's installed - these pro's probably wore hoodies in their experience and would probably not be identifiable.

Its true tho, if someone wants something bad enough nothing will stop them.
I don't really worry about stuff like that, I try my best to stop the petty crimes however you can't stop a pro. Thats what insurance is for right? Just sucks that you have to deal with un-necessary crap like this. Hope it work out for you in the end.
