Question BMW extended Warranty Best price?

Hi:

I'm trying to find the Best price on a BMW Powertrain + extended warranty.

07 335i: AT, Sport, Premium, 16,500 miles

I'm 15 days out of my original 4 year warranty. BMW says I qualify for Powertrain + .
Does Powertrain+ cover all my engine and tranny, Fuel system, cooling?

So how much should I expect to pay?

All help Greatly Apreciated!!

i would go with mercury warranty. I've used them for my cars, and they are nothing short of excellent. they cover more than the BMW plan does. I think they may have an exclusion policy as well, which is in your favor. Powertrain warranty generally does not cover the stuff like navigation, rattles, broken seatbelt.

google or search on these forums

The nature of the "web" when searching for the "worth" of a service company makes it difficult to judge accurrately. The consumer that is unhappy- complains. those that are happy- dont.

FWIW: That being said, I checked the Oklahoma City BBB and found: http://www.bbb.org/oklahoma-city/bus...ity-ok-7001259

I haven't heard about this mercury warranty. Googled it and didn't find anything useful. Is it the same as the Ford ESP warranty? Anyone got a link to their website?

I'd post this in the '335i turbo engine section' as more will look into extended warranties with the turbo / wastegate rattling problems and the other N54 related issues. This section is way too active and it gets knocked off front page way too quick.

Moderators shouldn't move it since it does have to do with the 335 considering its turbos get replaced under warranty all too often...along with other n54 issues.

Sucks that it's only 4yr/50K too, not fair for lower mileage cars. We should get a discount or pro-rated or something for an extended warranty. It should be 6yr/50K and which ever comes first.

Guys - if you want info on the ford warranty I put little comparison together of their top 3 levels; i'm working on adding the BMW warranties for comparison purposes.

It's in the diy / service / maintenance / warranty section

Can't get the Ford warranty past 3 yrs or 36K miles from in-service date. I'm going to have to look elsewhere, since I have 40K miles on my 335i sedan.

When I did it here http://www.fordespwarranty.com they only ask you if the vehicle is still under factory warranty. What site did you check?

Garage List
2007 BMW  [7.00]
i bought my extended warranty(silver) 2 years 100k miles extended (includes bmw assist too) for 2,300

they do have one year extended plans also for a cheaper alternative but its not much cheaper. i think it was like 1800 or 1900. and 2600 for gold(1yr) and 3000(2 year) numbers might be off but i hope you get how it works. i hope its worth it, if anything ill use it as a selling point if i do decide on another car.

That site. If you get far enough along, it will tell you the age/mileage limitation. You are about at the "buy it now" stage before they mention it!

The 335i with low miles is far easier to get an extended warranty than a 335i out of warranty and over 50K miles. I did a ton of research and found the Fidelity plan most german car dealers sell with their preowned non CPO cars is as goo as any, but if you can get the BMW backed warranty thats the way to go IMO. otherwise , many of these 3rd Party warranties have their issues and problems and consumer complaints, many of which fall under the normal wear and tear amendment. The most important issue for the warranty is the Turbos, thats the big $$$, the rest I can handle on the pocket book.

In the end, I was looking at $2900 for a 2 year 24K warranty on my 335 with 62K, and decided after reading the downsides and also credit worthiness/defunct insurance companies, to go without.

Make sure its transferable, and if you cancel, you can prorated refund. Also, who is the underwriter of the policy, as its sold by a front company, but is a another company thats is insuring it, lots of middleman and mark up too.

I'm on the check out and enter your credit card page, so I think mayhaps you have done something weird.

Note that BMW's don't have a 3/36k warranty; so the fact that they would deny you ext. warranty contracts at 3 years and 45k or something is stupid, because it's still covered by the factory....

My indy BMW shop swears by AUL, says they never have had a problem dealing with them to get repairs OK'd. Since they swear AT most of the others, this is worth something, IMHO.

They don't sell any warranties, so they have no reason to recommend one over another except their experiences with the companies.

On lower mileage cars IMO just put the 2k to 3K you would spend on the extended warranty on a bank account and dont touch the money. if something breaks then use that money. at the end of two years if nothing breaks then you have a few k in the bank.
