Exterior Bulb Warning lamp won't go away...

I was wondering if this warning has ever come on for any of you. I cannot see anything wrong with the lighting system outside of my vehicle. Should I take it to the dealer? Its been like this for about a month now (I just got back from dealer oil change a month ago but it started the day before I took it in), and sometimes it goes on and off but its rare.

UPDATE: I think it may be my ipod. I leave it in my car connected to the AUX jack pretty much 24/7, and frequently listen to music through there. Could this be messing with the computer?

mine started doing this. I had minor body work done on my bumper and the body shop had to remove the bulb in my driver side tail light.

It all started after that. But I checked all my lights, and they all work fine.

For me, it comes and goes, with the majority of the time it's been off.

Im going to hold off to see if it keeps up.

Mine did this for about 15 minutes. It went back off after I let the car sit for about 2 hours.

A similar thing occurred with mine during the first week. Never happened again.

My car was at the dealer for this, the dealer told me that the bulb warning will trigger if the voltage is +/- 5volts different from side to side. Even thought all my lights worked they found a bulb that was a little weak and once replaced the warning light went out. Now that I know this I will not waste an afternoon at the dealer over a bulb.

I brought my car in for this and it was found to have a slightly loose right rear brake lamp bulb. Tightened it up in housing, problem solved.

Exterior light bulb warning

My 335i had the same issue last year.
Took it to the dealer. One circuit was burned.
They ordered the circuit.
A week later it arrived.
The dealer called me back to set up appointment and replaced the circuit.

All under warranty.

makes sense... my body shop had to remove my taillight to spray the bumper.

My right rear outside brake light went out.... could this because i added a dvd in my dash, ipod interface and back up cam?

Should I be worried about this?

Mine is doing the same thing. Before, it would come and go. Now its on constantly. I don't see any problems. Should I try to diagnose by trail and error, or wait for my dealership appt. on 5/3 and let them do it?

It seems like the warning would come on more often in cold temperatures. Try bringing in the dealer, they changed two rear bulbs for me when I didn't see anything wrong with them when I checked myself with a brick on the gas pedal

I believe most of you guys having this problem own an E92... there is a problem with the right rear brake light bulb burning out right now. Not really noticeable to the naked eye, but there are 2 brake light bulbs on each side and if you have someone step on the brakes you can see one of the 2 doesnt come on..

Just take it to the dealer and they'll replace the bulb for ya...

Glad to know that i am not alone. I got the left brake light warning on Monday. They fixed it an said they had to replace a part of the taillight system - not the bulb!

Today, the right light warning came on! I checked it and one of the right brake bulbs seems out (the outer one). I do not think it is the bulb though. Will call my SA tomorrow!

About a couple weeks ago I got the "left brake lamp malfunction" warning on my iDrive. I brought the car in, and when I picked it up I turned it on and warnings came on for both the left and the right brake lamps. After that was supposedly fixed, I got another "right brake lamp malfunction" warning the next day. I brought it back in for a 3rd time and about a week later (a couple days ago) the warning came on again. I have now brought my car in 4 times for this. My car is supposed to be ready today, so we will see how it goes, but I have a feeling I will be bringing it back again. This is what they have done so far.

1st attempt - clean sensors
2nd attempt - replace both lights
3rd attempt - upgrade iDrive
4th attempt - replace right light
