downpipes AND exhaust? or just stick to 1?

I had my previous 335 fully modded. I recently bought an Xdrive 335 coupe and have a V5 in and an AFE intake. i dont want my car to be too loud so do i go with catless DP's AND a catless exhaust (ams, Ae)? or stick to either one. What about in terms of performance and alleviating back pressure? thanks

if you want the performance without the sound, go for the downpipes alone.

personally, i went with an axelback first (because i got a great deal on it), so i can't comment on how much downpipes alone increase the SPL of the exhaust, but according to what i've read on these forums, it's not much louder than stock.

Start with catless downpipes - 80% of the gains to be had are there.

I just installed AR catless DP's this weekend and I'm running with a stock exhaust. I'd rather not have a loud car and the catless DP + stock exhaust are PERFECT for what I want. It still has the grunt and it sounds great. I'm going to get some cyba tips on the stock exhaust and be done with it....not worth 1200+ to me for that last 20% of gains or whatever.
