All aboard the TRITON LEADER due PORT HUENEME, OXNARD CALIFORNIA: 03/08/2011

Just found out my 335IS Convertible in black sapphire mettalic/coral red interior, DCT, has left the port and is on its way to the west coast. Whoo hoo!

Anybody else on this vessel?

Here's the ship's MarineTraffic page: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shi...MMSI=357795000

It looks like it skipped Southampton, as it's past it w/ the last stop being Bremerhaven. Still a 24d voyage though.

EDIT: Weird, it looks like it did a little u-turn.

Yeah, I noticed that earlier. It looks like it made another U-Turn toward us. What's interesting is it says that its next destination is Brixham, it went toward Brixham but never ported and it made a UTurn toward Brixham, which I thought was interesting. But based on the latest, it looks like its headed toward us again. Odd!

The captain should learn not to do donuts. But I don't care what he does as long as he gets here by 3/8

Now I'm off to the dealership to test drive the 335is -- we'll see if I stay on this boat...

Alright -- thanks to my CA for putting up w/ my indecisiveness. I decided that for me, the 335is wouldn't be worth the additional cost. Nice, no doubt, but I'm just fine w/ my 335i -- besides, it'll be here sooner than I thought!

Eek, I have a feeling you are going to report back and tell us you went with an IS. Oh boy! Does that mean you'd order again and do the waiting process all over again?

CKSV, what are you doing in this thread?! LOL! Still a little bitter yours finished production before mine and arriving a whole 5 days before mine.

30min later, and I'm still not wavering -- 335i for me. I just wouldn't get enough out of the 335is -- I drive mainly in auto, I would never track the car. That nixes the two main benefits of the IS: more power and DCT. When I drove it, I didn't feel a huge difference between the 335i and the 335is, at least on suburban streets like I'm on 99% of the time. I'd love to have the upgraded car, just for its potential, but the wife would probably put the money to better use. Besides, I'm on the same boat as you guys now and I get the car that much sooner!

Are you turning in your AW coupe? Any parts you want to sell off of it? Mine will be the same AW/CR combo...

Perfect! I like your decision! Yes, my lease maturity is 04/11, my stealership will be paying my last months payment for me to take delivery on the IS early. There isn't much I can sell off of it.

I'm giving away my short shift knob to my friend and I will be transferring my wheels/tires to my IS. The only things left are my black kidney grills (I'll be keeping the stock IS grills), the AW painted reflector covers (if I decide to take them off and reinstall the stock orange ones), and my Custom "335I" pedals (I might reinstall these on my IS even though its missing the "S" because I don't like the stock pedals). If you want either the kidney grills or the reflectors (assuming I can take them off without damaging them and you'd have to replace the double sided tape), I wouldn't mind selling either one or both of them to you. Let me know!

I'll check in with you closer to when our cars get here then... it looks like our captain is drunk in the middle of the ocean right now though. It's probably some sort of weird tracking error. So after the car leaves the UK area, I don't think we'll be able to track it again for a while... I wonder what happens to this thread? Just a bunch of us wildly speculating where our cars are at the moment?

Yeah mine has been MIA for the past 5 days . It's set to dock in the port of Georgia on 2/19 so I'll get an update then I'm sure. After that it's headed for the Panama Canal!

Now it looks like they've turned back east and maybe they head to port after all. Oh well, like I said, they can go to Mars in between as long as they get to the west coast on time.

Oh come on, this is getting ridiculous. If I were the paranoid type, I'd say they're making all of these turns just to mess with us.

FWIW, here's the schedule from the Port of Hueneme: http://www.portofhueneme.org/documen...l_schedule.pdf

Weird how I don't see the Maersk Wind on there at all, since it was supposed to arrive on Mar-06. I'll keep digging -- my CA says I don't have enough work to do

Maybe they will add the Maersk Wind there later. Earlier today they didn't have the Don Juan on that schedule arriving on 02/23, but it looks like they just added it on the schedule you just posted.

I think the Captain is crazy. The only thing I can really think of is they are sleeping?! I don't know, after all they are in another time zone. Just get here 03/08 please! To think that all that time they are doing "Donuts" they can get here earlier!

Well, they're still out there circling. I can only think of two reasons: it is a weird gps tracking error, or the port in Brixham is full and they're in a "holding pattern" (even though the next stop says Panama)

this is really bizarre! Well, like you said, I guess it doesn't matter as long as they get here on 03/08.

It could be that there is a large storm in the Atlantic and they are waiting it out. I saw a Discovery show about supertankers and many times they would wait in the channel for the weather to clear before heading out.

Just a thought...

Update: Yup! I think they are waiting out a storm. Check out this website: http://www.oceanweather.com/data/ and look at the Northern Region data. There are 35-40 foot waves just outside of the channel so the ship is probably waiting it out and keeping your babies safe.

Wow good call! I've just been made fun of by my coworkers for taking this tracking to another level! Anyway, based on this map, why don't they just go down toward France and Spain? After all, they will be headed Southwest toward the Panama Canal. The waves are only 5-7 feet!

I wonder if this will delay its arrival, or if they'll be able to make up time?
