Question M Package

So I ran into this article and now I'm kinda down in the dumps cause I wouldn't have minded getting this M Sports Package. It would've made my 335 coupe look ULTRA HOT!

http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm...ts-packages-de

You think I can add it on later? Anyone order the 335 coupe with M sport package? Think they offer it in the US? I asked my dealer about it when I was ordering my car and they didn't know anything about it. WTF?!

Give it some time for the kit to become available at your local dealership's parts department just like the E90's M-tech body kit. The 225Ms will also be available. They won't be cheap though. If you wait even longer, I'd wager, sponsoring vendors will come out with quality and cost effective replicas...

You can order it extra through spare parts with you dealer. I'm planning to do the same before the summer, had a problem cause it wasn't available for Space grey , also i prefered 19" 230 style rims more than 225's. You can even choose which part of the kit you want, i.e. only the front bumber...

It will be cheaper to get it afterwards though. I got my shift knob for $100 from Morristown BMW instead of $170 from my dealer.

I don't think the M-Sport kit isn't available in the US. Like KL2DC said, they will probably make the exterior kit available like they did with the E90, but I doubt the full kit, with the interior mods, will be on sale here. But the exterior kit you can just purchase later if you want.

I think it's completely absurd that they don't sell the full kit in the US. Makes no sense whatsoever. I'd love to get the cloth seats in particular.

I did this on my US E90. When the OEM entire kit was available for the car, I ordered it, had it painted and installed it.

My recommendation: go with OEM kit, and not a replica as there are many pieces that aftermarket vendors may not be able to replicate as well. For the E90, it came with its own foglights, lower grilles, fender well plastic, and undercarraige, not to mention the material of the bumper itself. For E92, the kit would be different, but make sure you don't compromise quality, fitment, and completeness to save a few hundreds on a replica.

There are two types of aero kits available from BMW. The cheaper add-on one fits over the existing lower grill and looks not much different from stock. There is a seam below the bumper and the fit around the top end of the centre opening is not that great (I saw one installed by BMW on a 335 coupe at the Toronto Auto Show yesterday). The "true" M kit has a whole new nose cap that replaces the existing one and that's the one in the photo link. Not sure about the rear end.

How much US$$ do you think the M package would be for the e92? Just the exterior M package accessories.

Just curious. Maybe about $5k. Anyone know?

Well, the m-tech kit for the E90 retails for $1250(i think). It comes with all necessary parts for install, except for the rear insert/valence. You can get the kit for less at some BMW dealerships. Paint and install depends on the shop used but the average price is probably ~$800. So the total cost is ~$2000 for the E90. The kit can't cost much more than the one offered for the E90.

+1 on $2000 or so for the body kit and paint.

More...if you decide to go with interior modifications...steering wheel, shift changer, e-brake handle, door sills, pedals...etc! Its so much fun...and SO MUCH NICER looking!

personally, i'd rather get an aftermarket kit and customize the car to my exact aesthetic preferences than to own a kit that so many others will own.

e92kits.com has a nice kit for the coupe. check that out.

Aftermarket that interior? And the price is outstanding, given the suspension, wheels, etc.

actually i was only referring to the exterior body styling. i'm not familiar with the M-package interior cues,

but the interior difference won't be that overwhelming: the stitched steering wheel, the floormats, mayyyybe stitched seats. the speedometer, tachometer, display. am i missing anything here?

WOW! Only $2k for the exterior M body kit! I'm on it the second that comes out. Do we know when that'll be?

OH and if anyone has any aftermarket bodykit installed on their e92 already, PLEASE POST PICS! I love how I haven't even gotten this car in my hot hands yet (I pick it up next week!!! ) and I'm already thinking of all these mods! lol

There's also the short shifter, anthracite headliner, and brushed alumnum trim (which is different from the standard metal trim I think). Here's the full list of all changes included with the package:

• M Aerodynamics package
• M Sports suspension
• 2MF 18" M Star-spoke style 193M: front 8J x 18 225/40 R18 / rear 8.5J x 18 255/35 R18
• Optional 2MP 19" M Double-spoke style 225M: front 8J x 19 225/35 R19 / rear 9J x 19 255/30 R19 at £465 (image to follow)
• High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim
• Sports seats
• Blue Shadow cloth/Alcantara upholstery
• Three-spoke M multi-function leather steering wheel
• Shortened gearshift
• Brushed Aluminium interior trim
• Door sill finishers with M designation
• Individual Anthracite headlining

Also optional and exclusive to the MSport is Le Mans blue paint which is similar to Montego blue.

Some of the best parts of the whole M-pack, IMO, are the alcantara seating and anthracite headliner. That stuff is big $ to do aftermarket replacement. The whole interior is sweet -- highly functional, yet tasteful.

The [similar, USA equivalent] ZHP package on the E46 was great, IMO
