The 335i has gone :-(

Dear all,

You may recall another thread I posted "The 335i has to go". Well sadly today the beast has been sold to a VW dealer . I have never felt so gutted to see the back of a car. It was truly an awesome motor & a pleasure to drive. I will look back with very fond memories of the sort of car that I dreamed of owning since a being a teenager so have no regrets whatsoever!

I only used the car on the odd weekend & just couldn't justify forking out between £500-£600 per month to run the car. Afterall, for some people, this is a mortgage!

I am also of the belief that the rising cost of fuel & road tax (£425 pre ED engine), that if I held on to this car for too much longer, it would be hard to shift & I may have ended up in negative equity.

Furthermore, I work in the public sector, my pay has been frozen, my pension contributions are going to increase along with tax etc, etc.

So in the end I had to make a very difficult decision, not only to part with such an awesome car, but to downgrade.

I've bought a new/used VW Golf 2.0 TDI (10 months old). The finance is half of what I was paying on the BMW, £90 tax, cheaper insurance & 57mpg. It has some nice toys, cruise, auto lights & wipers, aircon, ipod media pack, sat nav BUT it's no 335 :-(

Anyway I haven't been an active member like some of you here, but just wanted to say thanks for all your help & banter etc! I wish you all good luck & hope you continue to enjoy your BMW's.

This is my last thread & will be leaving this forum as I will just get depressed listening to you lot ranting on about how good your cars are!

Bye, bye all

No need to quit the forum just becuase the BMW has gone! I also downgraded from the 335i to my current Corsa 1.3 diesel last year. So I really know where you are coming from.

I plan to get another BMW 'one day' but it will probibly be of the ED variety becuase, as you have mentioned, the running cost of the fuel hungry high tax band motor is getting worse and worse each year.

How are you finding the Golf, I might upgrade this year lol.

Thanks all. I've ordered the 2 litre model & is only 6 months old not 10 months as originally stated. Should pick it up in the next week or two. I suppose I'm looking forward to a new motor but am definately not excited.

On the plus side with the extra income, I am now able to progress my new passion of skiing & snowboarding. I am planning on two ski holidays next year . So along with windsurfing, going to the gym 3 times a week, I have plenty to keep myself occupied!
