Question regarding E93 production schedule

Hi All,

I have been reading along for a couple months trying to learn all I can before I order my new convertible. The site has been a great help and I'm about ready to order. My question is in regard to the production schedule. It seems that in the past, pricing comes out about now for the next model year and then production starts around March. Although, there seems to be a lot of talk about the F3x as the 2012s. Will this change the production cycle? Or are we going to get another E9x come March and the F3x in 2013?

I am trying to figure out if I should hold off for a week or month in order for the new model year or if it's not coming and therefore I should just order now. Any comments would be a great help. Thanks!

I don't think there is a new convertible on the near horizon. Isn't it typical of bmw to release the coupe/convertible a year after the sedan?

I think all the indicators that I've seen is 2011 production will be a little longer and will continue to sometime until 2nd half of the year. maybe August/September at the earliest. You can check in some of the threads in the F30 posts for some idea, as I think there have been some posts that refer to when 2011 production ends.

That's what at least one person posted about the end of 2011 production to the 2012 production. As to whether it is going to switch to the F3X or stay as e93, as they have done in the past, I would expect 2012 production to still be e92/e93, not sure about e90, whether 2012 production for sedan will be F30 or be just a short e90 production year and 2013 will be F30.

Thanks for the replies and the link. That really helps!

I did remember from my reading that the sedans always come out first, but I wasn't sure exactly how that works out with the different builds. The link provided is a thread I missed and seems to give me a better idea.

I was figuring that if the 2012 convertibles started production soon I'd wait regardless of them being E93 or F33. But it seems that unless I am willing to wait till September or longer, there is no reason to wait. Thanks!

P.S. I guess that would also explain the lack of 2012 price sheets.
