Here's some financial advice. Buying a new car is never a good deal, even if you get an amazing base price and rate. The car you bought depreciates $10,000 in the first year, you should have done the following: Bought it 1 year used for $38,000. Done a low interest 72 month loan for ~$600 a month. Sold it private party after 3 years, and paid off your loan. Finally, enjoyed your the ~$7,000 profit from paying off your loan and ~$2,000 in saved payments.

So compared to a simple alternative of buying 1 year used, you threw 9 grand out the window, even though you got a great deal. The alternative would have no downsides in any measurable or conceivable way either.

Hope you enjoy the car either way.

You actually could have gotten an M3 for what you're paying if you look at it another way.
I didn't buy it. I leased it.

But yes, I agree that you get more for your money buying a used car.

I don't know the terms, but $642 a mo. for a 3 series? Just doesn't seem to pass the common sense test. After all, it's a 3 Series.

A $53,000 car used for $38,000 after 1 year? On what fking planet do you live? It'll be nearly $38,00 after 3 year.

38K is closer to 2 yrs I think. 36 month lease residual for a 335i is currently 58%, so just over 30K for a 53K. But that's dealer wholesale, so tack on a bit more for retail.

lol what did you think it would be with so little down? G37s are in the 500s and Acuras in the 400s. If 3 series were in their price range, these cars would become extinct.

Besides, of all beemers, 3 series are most fun to drive according to reviewers

I believe you got a good deal. some of those leases with your car's spec would have run over 700's.

however, I would consider a CPO for less than 30k nowadays... you would pay a bit less than that for 5 years, but sell it in three or so and make some money off of it...

That is true but unfortunately I can't help not want the most updated look even if it's just a facelift.

Lol. Actually cars lose 45% of their value in the first 3 years, that's considered "average" depretiation by everyone in the world. I actually looked at the depretiation info specific to the car and a ~$40,000+ base 3 series coupe loses about 10k in the first year and 4k each year thereafter.

I also just built a car on BMWUSA.com and kbb.com, a 54k msrp 335i depretiates to 40k in 12 months and 12,000 miles. Try it yourself.

53k to 38k would probably be 15 months, it's on the low side because in his case he has $9k of option which don't hold their value as well as the car itself. For an MSRP of 49k the 1st year residual is around 38k 2nd year is 34k, 3rd year is 30k and 4th year is 26k. These numbers are all ball park figures though.

No clue, but it doesn't make sense to me if the avg. 3 owner making 140k per year would put nothing down on any car, or pay $642/mo. for a car like a 3 series. I remember some guy on cnnfn.com talking about his bankruptcy saying his Acura MDX was $749/mo. The $642/mo. on a 3 struck me the same way, out of whack.

It's a lease though, so no point putting money down on it.
