Cheers HMi - scott it looks like we have exactly the same car, yours is identical to mine, I'm loving it so far, the noise is great on acceleration, and I've just figured out that sport mode is much quicker, only problem is that I've come from a Golf GT tdi, which was much more economical, but im still getting about 45mpg...not too bad...only other concern is how much will servicing be, and the ride is a bit of a mare, especially when you hit a pothole, or a cats eye even, it occasionally feels like your teeth will fall out, I might look to get rid of the run flats, and replace them with normal tyres, most people seem to prefer them, how's yours going

Its superb mate I have had my car 2 years now and It has never missed a beat, touch wood!
Mine is an auto also, the sport mode is good for a blast on a nice country road using the paddles. I had concerns about buying a diesel as I had a Mk5 GTI (200bhp model) before I went to the 325d. The noise from the 6 pot burner is just as nice, I would go as far to say that it sounds better because the 2.0T in the gti did sound rough when on idle, although it was superb under acceleration. I think I get about 39mpg I currently have 28k on the clock but I only do the town run, it gets much better mpg on the motorway probably around 45mpg cruising at 70mph. I think my first service cost about 150 pounds but I know a mechanic at a dealership, the main thing to watch out for is inside tire wear as these are notorious for going through black circles quickly especially with the state of the roads. As you say, hit a pothole and its just about knocks your teeth out! Also make sure you have plenty anti freeze in your screen wash as the little headlight washers have a tendency to come out completely and fall off when temperatures are below freezing. |
