335i questions

Hi guys, trading in the 335d this week for a 335i, nothing wrong with the D, been terrific car, but basically a bit bored with it....so I have found a nice 08 plate coupe, manual, mileage 58k, fbmwsh, my question to all you 335i owners is what should I be looking out for plea, any advice much appreciated :

I haven't parted with any cash... so the deal ain't done yet, but my heart is saying do it & my head is saying the same....

Been looking the hpfp problem on here, was it a recal?.....there is 3 months warranty kept on the car with BMW & after that I will extend it as I did with the D.....

As I said, deal ain't done, been offered £18k trade in for the touring, mileage is 62k and she's immaculate, so if any one wants to improve on this, they could get themselves a bit of a bargain, pm me if you want the full spec.

Cheers

HPFP
Carbonisation of intake/ injectors/ Vanos Solnenoid valve or anything to to with the injectors
Cracking wheels (if msport in particular)

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BMW WARRANTY for at least 1 year I would say....The injectors "should" fail within that time scale and hopefully get replaced .....But always good to "mention" it to the dealer, and say ...it will fail and i will count on you to sort it out!

6 months ownership. BMW Replaced damn seat belt hand over thingie, fixed engine light and reduced power (didn't tell me what the problem was, in fact said there wasn't a problem but when the car was collected it was sorted) Headlight washers popped out but were replaced under warranty, and today the car is having a coil pack replaced, well it would be if they had one in stock.

All in all it's not been a great experience so far.

regards

You only have 3 months warrenty, i take it your buying private and not off AUC?

There wasnt a recall in this country, I hear there is a new batch of HPFP coming soon which is ment to solve the issue once and for all. It doesn't seem to be much of an issue in this country compared to the states tho

With warrenty you will be sorted, I would say look into the history of the car in terms of what it's had replaced under warrenty. If the list is as long as your arm I would say walk away.

Cheers for the advice, the car will be 3 years old in 3 months, I will then purchase an extended warranty, seeing the dealer on Friday to check out the warranty work & service history etc....I might even ask him to trial the car for the weekend before I commit

Won't the dealer automatically extend the warranty in full for 9 months, therefore giving you 12 months full BMW original warranty? Also a MOT could be 'bartered' for imo.

I've had my more than my fair share of reliability issues. Had the car 15 months, gone from 25k miles to 57k miles.

Coil and Injectors had me off the road 4 times in about 5 months until they replaced the whole lot in one go. That was 20k miles ago and no more problems in that area.

HPFP went a few months ago, New one in, new software, 5k miles since, no more problems

Cracked 2 wheels, replaced FOC, no more since

Gearbox Leak, sorted under warranty.

So if the car you are buying has had no warranty work done, its probably waiting to happen. Best of luck, but the exhaust note alone makes it worth making the move from a D

I think OP isnt buying from AUC. With AUC they give you 12 months warrenty:

"
In addition to routine service items like tyres, brake pads and discs, and parts needing to be repaired or replaced through wear and tear or age, the BMW Warranty means your BMW Approved Used Car has unlimited mileage protection against breakdown and repair costs for parts and labour for a minimum of 12 months.

We want you to have total confidence in your car, which is why the warranty is backed by BMW, not third party insurers, and even covers the battery and exhaust. The open road is waiting...

If it's not AUC then that's different but if it is then yes, that is the norm as with other marques.

All added to the ticket price/overall deal you know with AUC.
