Runflats

Chaps,
On the ordering system online it looks like runflats might be a preset option. Has anyone asked a dealer if the car can come without runflats?

Also in the F11 is there space for a spare wheel under the boot lid at the back (this space exists on the E61).

Neil.

on my F11 there is no space in the under boot compartment for a spare wheel, would guesstimate it is only about 10cm deep at most.

I think the whole suspension is designed around the stiffer sidewalls of run flats my f10 is an m sport on 18s and it rides far better then my old e60 m sport on 18s even in sport mode onnthe suspension. There is only a slot in the boot for a small laptop no space for a spare wheel, not even a space saver.

pants. ok. TBH I don't mind the run flats but its just a pain when the sensor goes off and you are on your way to something important. I want a spare wheel just to be able to swap out the duff one and carry on my journey.

with my last two run flat punctures i've just kept driving.....not sure if that was right thing to do but had no choice. last on i drove 285 mile journey from north east back home without a single problem, time before that I had no choice as tyres were on backorder so had to drive for 2 weeks with puncture...again, drove ok, no damage to alloy or car.

couldn't really tell tyre had a puncture at all....first i knew was warning light.

I understand that getting a tyre dealer to repair a punctured RFT is difficult, if not impossible, as there's rarely any visible evidence of sidewall damage, which makes it impossible to fully assess the tyre's repairability.
Therefore, mindful of the fact that the tyre will have to be discarded, I think I react exactly the same way as you and drive on, albeit at lower speed and with increased caution.
Once home I'd assess the wear on the remaining three tyres and possibly consider switching to non-runflats all round.

The space for the spare wheel is taken by the stop/start battery and gubbins.
