http://www.cobratrakq.co.uk/ are pretty good and cover the different insurance categories.
As SteveC has mentioned - you need to find out from your insurers what category tracker is required....

I've used these people in the past, who were excellent in price and service.

An extra £100 a year on the insurance could still be cheaper than tracker fitting and subscriptions? |

[actually now I think of it, it actually made my missus' insurance bill £0.00 as I have now ended up paying it in one larger monthly direct debit ] They are also pretty mod friendly and I think from memory, all the mods (lowering/wheels/lip spoiler/black grilles/etc) declared added about £90 to the annual premium and are all itemised on the policy. |

I can sell you an expensive one that is not insurance approved but will show you where she is (minute by minute), where she has been, what G-force and speeds she has been driving at, what mpg she is doing and how much she is idling

I've had this nonsense for my Jag XK. The tracker deal isn't worth it - if the thieves spot the tracker, your car is toast, so you lose both insurance NCB/excess and the car.
Admiral didn't require a tracker on the Jag so I'd be surprised if they did on an X6. I think in the end, though, I got a similar deal from A Plan - push them on a competition quote and it's remarkable how much they'll sharpen their pencils... |

If its your insurance thats stating you have to have one then you need to get a recognised brand, but if its just for your own piece of mind then an old mobile phone hard wired into the car, say behind the dash or just out of site is a great economical solution.

I have this in my cars for the VHF tech. GPS jammers are cheap and freely available - they even plug into the cigarette lighter as if designed for the job! I also have anti-hijack unit which is probably the main way my cars won't get taken very far! |
