How much to get the performance grill fitted?

I just got a quote of £108+ Vat to fit the grill

I checked out the DIY thread... it does not seem like it takes more than 15min to fit!

DIY!!!

Just make sure you undo all the screws specified and you can avoid less cuts to the hands then!!

I'm thinking the same ... its just the uncertainty of doing it myself though. Do I trust myself? Will I break anything? haha

I have asked Darren Wood, the independent BMW specialist, for a quote. I know once the dealer know I can get it done cheaper else where they usually match me.

A few screws on the top at the front of the engine bay and the they pop out.

Takes about 5 mins if you have done it before.

I will fit them for £95

The stated BMW book time is 25 minutes per side, it looks like your dealership are charging for an hours standard labour. You can probably do it at home but be careful when you're taking your old grilles off, they can be quite tricky.

15 minutes max for both on the e92 (I've done it twice!)

DEAD easy!! As others have said remove the three screws on the top of the grille to gain access to the back of the clips, or failing leave it bolted up & give the original ones a good pull - they normally pop out

Done it a few times now, defo don't pay a dealer to sort!

Does this include VAT? haha

Thanks Anneka for clarifying the £108 cost... So BMW dealer requires an hour to do the job that members here can do for around 5mins?

I will give it a try myself, I just wanted it fitted before I collect my car!

I think they're confusing them with painting them or something else.

If you ask the salesman/sales manager nicely, I don't see why they wont do them fit them FOC and you pay for the parts, thats what they did for me anyway.

They'll also Supergard it within the same hour, but charge you an extra £299.00

Hmmm, is that for a technician's time or the receptionist's (with long nails)?!?

Bloody outrageous for a job we all know can be done in less than 15 minutes (without specialist training or tools).

Looked up on ETK and it actually states 25 per side according to BMW Germany (shocking!!!, wow, gob smacked), so its not something set by dealers and note these are guidelines only. Yet another example of the person quoting OP not being fimiliar with how long things actually take.

I hear near Manchester dodgy characters can remove all the grills and sell them on in less than.

I will do it for £15 all inclusive or FOC if you can 'hook' me up with the receptionist.

25 per side....hmmm just wondering what the mechanics will do in that time...

The times starts from when I left the keys at the parts department?

Takes a few mins to drive to the garage?

A few mins to find the right screw driver?....
