Idrive Map updates

I have the HDD version of Idrive. I understand only the dealer can update the maps. Has anyone gone thru this update process? Do we need to pay for this service? Can we DIY?

i've found downloadable versions of the 2011 map update (on piratebay.org) but i don't know if its possible to install on the newer nav systems

if you have the CIC, HD navi, you will still need to buy the FSC code to activate the maps ... you can try and find 11 NA maps as I heard they were just released or you can order the discs for like $7 USD from many places

Someone else here chastised me saying that you could do it yourself, but all I've seen is that the dealer must install...

I'd truly love to know. I just don't want to waste a day at the dealer for a stupid map update.

Definitely need a map update. Mine doesn't know that the new 410 / 10 interchange exists...
