I did order 2011 BMW x3 on 11.27.10 and haven't hear anything yet from the dealer. They are informing as they haven't heard anything from BMW. It is beyond 4 weeks and no information yet. Is anyone out there is in the same boat like me or actually cases exists that you got the VIN information within 4 weeks?

Please pass any information available?

I went through this with my 2009 so I know exactly how you feel.

With this being a totally new model there will be teething pains. As hard as it is I would say just be patient and keep in touch with your dealer. They will get the VIN info first.

A call to BMWNA 800-831-1117 might give you some general info. I called them a couple of times when I ordered mine and they were always very polite and helpful. Just hang in there.

Get the production # from your dealer then call 1-800-831-1117 , my is saying waiting for trucking company to ship to NJ

i ordered mine on 11/26 and mine is still not in production. My dealer claims production won't start until end of Jan. but I've seen a couple of people here who ordered in early Nov getting their cars. Has the x3 deliveries been in U.S. yet or just europe? I thought I though I saw someone get delivery from the states.

I'm not sure how BMW allocates production weeks but I do know that each dealer is assigned a certain allocation of cars depending on certain factors. I ordered my X3 on 12/21 and got a production number the next day, the status changed to In Production since right after Christmas with a completion date of 1/12. It's possible it could have to do with what options you ordered as well as how many orders from that same dealership they have; whether they simply modified one of their allocations that was already submitted or if they put you at the back of the line.

At any rate, I would ask your CA to check to see if you at least got a production number yet. There's no reason why they shouldn't let you in on the process. They should just be able to pull up your order on the order system and see it.

Production definitely has started for the U.S., mine went into production just after Christmas with a completion date of 1/12. You are right, there are already a couple of people on this board who have taken delivery. I think your CA meant that production of YOUR X3 wasn't scheduled until the end of January. If he claims production of all X3s aren't until end of January he's either clueless or BSing you. Either way, I'd ask him for the production number and check the status yourself via the 1-800 number.

I do know for one, that BMW allocates build spots for dealers based on their sales..etc.


I ordered my car on 11/1, and I took delivery on 12/23. (granted my dealer, is the largest volume dealer in the Southeast U.S)


but IMO you should definately have some sort of information by now from the dealer, I would suggest giving your CA a call and finding out whats going on...no way I'd be able to wait until now without any more info.

yeah i don't think my ca knows anything. been tracking mine online. i'm guessing if you got yours 11/1 and mine around 3-4 weeks later. i should be getting mine sometime this month. to build seems pretty fast from what i saw on your other thread. i hope it gets to production this week or next week.the wait is killing me.

Thank you all for the update. I keep checking with my dealer every other day and they keep saying I might get either the end of Jan or first week of Feb.... the wait is killing me and I didn't like the long wait.... When some dealers get it possible to get the VIN number the next day, then why can't my dealer. may be I should talk to the manager and see the status.

Does anyone already have the x3 in hand? I mean, who ordered last fall, might have already got one. Please let me know, if do.

You need to talk to someone higher up in the dealer..

I ordered my X3 on 11/1 (see other threads ive started)
My car went into production in Dec (thats when I got a vin) and my car was delivered to me 12/23.

It's sitting at home right now but I got my car already.

As a matter of fact, total 849 X3 (should be all new X3) were delivered in December 2010. Only 2 reported here with photos.

So far, good news! I got the VIN number, it went to production today itseems............. When I called the 1-800 number, it said that it will be done by 1/13. Where can I check online for the status?

Do you know how long you have to wait after getting your VIN number before you can see it online? I'm trying with my UK order VIN number on the US website but no joy. It's probably not possible for UK orders. Anyway, the info is here

I can chime in with some extra info from the the field. My Boston area dealer placed my order this past Monday afternoon, I asked today about my production number and they provided it and said it's in assembly.

I am kinda shocked it was that fast but they were claiming it would be 3 weeks when I started the shopping process at that dealer about a week earlier.

I put a deposit down in late July for an early order at the KC dealership and the order was completed and accepted in November. I am not sure if they have substantial volumes compared with larger cities but I was told my car would be ready in late Jan or early Feb. I was able to test drive a similar 35i there a couple days before Christmas.

wow...there seems to be a lot of different time it takes to go to production. i'll just be happy if i get it this month.
