335i Sedan vs. Coupe

In the market for 335i. I cannot find any differences between the coupe and sedan other than the obvious doors and styling.

Are the engines tuned the same? Suspension (given sport package on both) the same?

The reason I ask? I love the coupe...but the sedan is a bit more practical and it is 1. cheaper, 2. better lease residual 3. better lease MF. Thus about $75/month cheaper on a lease.

I am trying to justify the coupe...but $75/month on styling and less practicality is difficult.

thanks guys!

The Sedan is faster, according to all the arguments.

I don't care which is faster...it's a .1 second at best...who can tell the difference.

Both are handsome cars.

I did drive the coupe and the sedan. The driving experience between the two felt a little different to me. I liked both...but preferred one over the other.

In the end...it is personal preference that must prevail.
And I can't fault anyone for buying one over the other.

75 dollars a month is really nothing. Don't let that sway your decision either way. Performance is comparable. It just boils down to which one is more appealing+practical for your needs.

Differences I can think of:

1. Door has the ambient lighting in the coupe.
2. Coupe has cornering lights.
3. Coupe has metal trimming around the steering wheel
4. Coupe is only a 4 seater
5. Sedan fold down seats are an option in the sedan
6. Coupe has standard sports suspension
7. Coupe has TPM whereas Sedan has FTM
8. Coupe as the seatbelt assistant
9. You don't get the rear side shade in the Coupe when ordering the Rear Sun Shade option.
10. You can only get Space Gray colour on the coupe. For the sedan, you the unique colour is Barrique Red and Sonora.
11. Coupe uses the Angel Eyes as DRL.

2007 335i Coupe  [0.00]
I test drove the sedan version when ordering my coupe. I thought the sedan was sweet and almost picked it up if I found everything I wanted... but the allure of the coupe, it's styling cues, and the standard options on top of the awesome engine; I went into the coupe order with HUGE expectations.

Least to say I wasn't disappointed! The sedan is nice, but the coupe speaks out more to my driving and lifestyle.

See if either of the car just draws you to it, if not and you're indifferent, then whichever is more practical I guess.

I really really like the e90 sedan. I like 4 doors in my cars, coupes just don't seem like complete cars to me.

BUT , i've ordered the 335i coupe as my next bimmer for a few reasons : 1. not married, no kids, I've only had 2 passengers in the 4 door sedan I currently drive like 3 times in a year.
2. In the leasing program that's available to me, the coupe is less expensive.
3. even though the sedan is nice, the standard twin exhaust on the 335i looks unnatural, I dont' know why that is, but to me, the two polished circles look very out of place on the back of the E90. Since I have to lease I cannot change the vehicle in any way, and also since most people will be looking at the back of the car, this is a major concern

For me, i'd prefer the sedan with a better looking exhaust. But since I haven't owned a coupe since my 91 celica, I decided I should try one again , considering the above reasons as well. Although after this one I'll likely return to a 4 door AWD vehicle again.

Great advice everyone. I will definitely drive both and see which 'calls' to me.

I do have wife and 2 kids, so the coupe would have to call loudly...although 8 year olds can climb and fit almost anywhere...and isnt that what our Denali is for?!?!

anyway, I do like the extra light and view in the back for the kids in a sedan AND I sometimes think the coupe looks a little 'pinched' and drawn out in the back...Sedan could use more aggressive wheel package.

When someone says the Coupe comes standard with Sport suspension, then what is the sport pkg?

Because it's heavier and not as stiff?

Coupe will get you laid more. After you get her pregnant, you'll have to get the sedan.

coupe all the way...never been a huge fan of the sedan's rear end. It's all a personal preference.
