e 92 B Pillar

With the E93 coming without a B pillar and with quarter windows that can go down; is there a logical explanation why BMW won't put those features on the E92 coupe version a la the Benz CLK?

I agree with the chassis rigidity argument.

I'll take chassis rigidity over opening rear quarter windows any day.

I think this is a great question.
I too asked myself the same question. I am not a big fan of the clk but loved the fact that all windows opened without anything in the middle to give that clean look.
And was disssapointed when Bmw didn't incorporate this into their coupe.

I hear your point about chassis rigidity; but if that was the case, then you're telling me that the E93 chassis is not as good as the E92 coupe?
I just think that if it possible on the hardtop convertible it should be about to be done on the coupe.
I dont like any of the benz cars but I too also love the fact that the CLK and I think the SL and CL, rear quarter windows go down on the coupes.
This would look so nice on an E92! I can see me in one now!

+1. E92 is the driver's car of the two. The E93 is also on softer suspension. I have a read some articles of some firstdrives, they practically all say the rigidity of the E93 is almost even with the E92.

The difference is 400+ pounds (minus weight difference of conv. roof) on the E93 vs. E92 for chassis rigidity.
