Talking YES!!! I got a production number!

Finally did it, put in the order!!!

We decided not to get the NAV and instead, move up from the 28i to the 35i. Apples to apples, when you add the xenon lights to the 28i, keeping all other options the same, the difference in price between the two cars was only $3,400. So, between the NAV and the extra HP, we opted for the latter.

The car we ordered:

Jet Black 35i
Chestnut interior
Brushed alum trim
Premium package
Heated seats
Heated steering wheel
Roof rails

MSRP came out to $46,315. Dealer's cost (assuming NO holdback, and $450 of MACO and training fees) comes out to $43,090.

The price I negotiated: $43,250, which is $160 above dealer's cost; or $3,065 below MSRP. Oh, floor mats thrown in as well.

SUPER happy with the deal. Best part, other than the great price, is the fact that I managed to get a January production date. My dealer told me that I can expect the car late January.

Do you think the short lead times in the US compared to the UK and Europe are linked to a shortage in the 2 litre diesel engines or have they just got a predefined number of slots for the diesels and there is much greater demand for diesels?

Or is just we build 'em so our orders are built first!? I blame Martha. She rocks up and gets one within a few days setting a precedent!

Anyone from Europe ordered a 2.8 or 3.5 petrol? Lead times?

So true. I think the guy organising the build slots at Spartanburg waited months for a BMW from Europe recently too!

I'd have hoped UK orders would still be processed ahead of orders from the rest of Europe because of our "special relationship". Well, certainly ahead of French orders in any case!

It seems the Norwegians have upset them as they seem to have the longest lead times!
