3 Series Interior Aging FAST
Does anyone else think this? I remember when the e90 first came out, I thought the interior was beautiful, while a lot of other people thought it looked entry level. (I guess I'm just used to my plastic-encrusted Range Rover Sport)
Lately, I've been looking at the interior on my own car (that picture below is NOT my car, ewwww) and at other cars on Autotrader, and can't help but notice how the interior it aging SO quickly! It looks so cheap and old to me now, especially when I look at the interior of the new 5. Is it my just having an epiphany or have you noticed this lately?

I love the new 5 & 7 series interiors too, but I really don't feel like mine is aging. I also think it has a lot to do with the colors and materials and options you choose. I have a saddle interior with light poplar wood trim and nav and I still love it. Check out a couple crappy pics of it in this thread.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287182 I think this makes a huge difference when compared with an all black interior with brushed metal trim which in my personal view looks a bit bland an boring... Edit: A couple of better interior pics in this thread. Does that look aging and old to you? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384271 |

These interiors are VERY color and trim sensitive, and I'm lucky to have terra, but unfortunately even that beautiful interior combination looks like it's aging.

Yeah I got a loaded F10 loaner and the difference was staggering, but thinking about 3 years and one class difference, and it makes sense....
However, the E9X interior is very meh, and always has been. Even at inception and against fair competition, it doesn't excel at all. |

I said the same about the E46 when the E90 came out. There are some aspects I consider ugly like the center console bins and gauge ticks but the E90 looks more modern. Dash forward toward windshield, flat across without iDrive. The sport wheel has aged though. Same way the E60 sport wheel did but not nearly as badly.

hell the e90 2007 interior was tired when i bought it... its twice as tired now.
imo bmw is trying not to rock the boat with changes... if people buy their cars why make radical exterior or interior changes. ppp

I like having a long piece of wood across the dash of my car -- i find it luxurious...
For a nice inteirior, you need a light interior with wood, that classes it up way more than metal or plastic. I don't like the Audi interiors/GM interios where there is NO wood, its all plastic on the dash, and no line running through the dash to the passenger side...I also find it makes the inside of the car seem smaller. Interior is fine for a base driver's car. |

I always thought the interior was beautiful, especially with the right colors and trim. But even saddle or terra with wood trim and iDrive is starting to look ehhh to me.

Your car = No sports package, No Nav
The aluminum and black combination is a cold kinda look as well. |

Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

haha That's NOT my car, ewww no! I strongly dislike aluminum trim in the 3 series, especially with the black interior. My car is terra with light poplar on aw.

i think the interior looks much better with the nav, but i have a base 328 loaner right now and its not bad either. However I think the interior of the 2012 C-Class is gorgeous!

ha, not really, especially after I switched to Porsche, I'm starting to appreciate BMW's interior more and more. I think in general the E90 generation's interior is still up to date. Of course the new 5 and 7 series are gorgious.

Only when you have a boring color combo do you notice it aging.
