Thinking about getting a 2007 328i, questions
New to this forum and I'm currently driving a 2006 VW Passat 3.6L and considering trading for a 2007 328i. The question I have is what kind of problems, if any, are you guy's having out of the new '06 or '07 BMW's? Also, do these car's have any squeaks or rattles, how quite is the interior? Thanks for any help you can give.

Go test drive one.
You can listen to people online talk about squeaks and rattles, wind/road noise (and lack of it); or you can drive the car yourself and see what you think. Mechanically the 328i is a very sound car; it's the same engine from the '06 325/330. Also, use the search function. These are all things that have been discussed before.

NMULAX gave you a great suggestion. Test Drive The Car! No use listening to others opinions without having one of your own to base your conclusions on. This forum is a great resource for the vehicles but what good is the information if you don't even like the vehicle?

I think that overall all BMW-made vehicles are rattle-free. My first car was a Ford Contour...RATTLE , second car MINI Cooper S...NO RATTLE , third car Acura TSX...RATTLE/WIND NOISE , and finally BMW 328i Coupe...NO RATTLE :rocks: . Hope this helps.

My suggestion is take a test drive and decide on the hardest question, go with the 328 or 335? What you need to do is not to look at the base price of the two cars, rather calculate the final price of the two. Add all the options onto the 328 and look at the final price. You’ll be very surprised that the 335 comes equipped with many of the options that you have to pay for in the 328 as standard equipment. For example, the HID lights and 17” rims. Also you get the 300+ HP and better brakes with the 335. I found that the final price difference between the two cars is about $3000 or less. Spread that out on a 4 to 5 year finance and it is the price of a cup of coffee from Starbucks a day (I drink a lot of coffee:rocks: ). Go with the 335 if your going to buy a 3 series, you’ll be much happier with less of a buys remorse. You’ll find 9 out of 10 325, 328 and even 330 owners who would love to trade-in their vehicle for a 335 if they only had to pay $3000 more at trade-in.

I have 2006 325i (purchased May 2005), so coming up to a 2-year anniversary -- beside the tires, no issues at all. Love the car. It runs and looks the same (in and out) as it did the day I picked it up (except for a few mods...)
I used to have the Passat (1999 though) and although I really liked it, I noticed that after a while (two years) the car feels like it lost power and is not driving the same as when new. I though it was just being used to it, but after the Bimmer, I realized that was not the case... Although they are both German made cars, there is a huge difference between the Passat and the 328. The price is not much different though (V6 Passat vs. 328 Sedan). A neat thing is also a 4-year/50k miles maintenance plan with the Bimmer. On the other hand, the Passat is noticeably bigger inside. Good luck. |

I have a E90 330i that was built in August of 2005 and delivered to me in mid-September. It is my first BMW and I bought it basicly sight unseen -- I never test drove one or even sat in the driver's seat of one. I love it. It's hands down the best car I've ever owned and I've had zero problems and NO RATTLES.
I know you're asking about the '07 328, but I believe most Bimmers are built to be rattle free, and are, for the most part. Whatever you decide to buy, enjoy!

You can buy a 335 via EuroDelivery for about the same price as a 328 via regular order. Regardless, the E90 is a very quiet, solid car. There was a little gizmo in the seat belt that made a tiny noise in earlier (2006) models, something that you would never hear in a 'normal' car. FWIW, mine is very quiet at all speeds.

Had mine since last May. 8000 miles and solid as a rock. Not a squeak shake or rattle to be heard. I still look for excuses to drive it and it still puts a big grin on my face around the twisties

This little gizmo - you're talking about on the '06 E90? I wasn't aware of this and I've been around e90post for a while now. I've seen threads about B-pillar rattling, but don't have that issue myself. Is that related? What little gizmo are you talking about?

DO NOT DRIVE THE E90 328 NOR 335!!!! UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO CONSIDER BUYING IT! I am very picky over interior nose/rattles - none so far on mine - though I know it is early.
As far as HP differences between autos, my previous Accord had more HP rating than my current 328 - and there is absolutely no comparision between the 2 cars-the entire experience in my 328 is just awsome. I agree, do not drive the 335 unless you can get into it financially. It wasn't an issue of finances for me, I didn't go with it because I am planning on driving my car for 8-10 years and didn't want to hassel with any potential turbocharge issues along with intercoolers etc. If you are into short term ownership/lease then by all means I would get the 335. I honestly couldn't be more pleased. Good luck and have fun.

0 problems/squeaks/rattles after 4k miles. Also, it's just as quiet at highway speeds as as the Lexus IS I tested.
