Extended Warranty which ones do you have

Sorry if this has been talked about. I just can't search with iPhone. My 2008 335i has 43000 miles on it. I want to keep it and was looking into those extended warranty companies. I noticed some may or may not be scams. Anyone here use one that worked out well with no problems on the claims side? Thanks

You need to pay upfront for there's correct?

I have the 7/100 gold. The best way to do things is to choose a random dealership, tell them you want one, and they will have you meet the finance mgr. who will read your key. The computer will spit out every extended warranty and maintenance plan available, and the prices. I did this at two dealerships and the printouts were identical. Both dealerships refused to budge off of list price. I made a couple more phone calls and found a dealership who gave me 10% (not a lot just over $300).

What has changed since late 2009 is that you do NOT have to be the original owner, nor must the warranty be bought by 45 mos. 45k. You can wait until 49,999 miles or 47 mos. and 29 days. Since the guy was up-front with me on the policy change, I bought it from him 4 mos. before my original warranty expired.

Do you mean you're paying monthly for it? I'd rather save $340 and pay it up front.

my original warranty expires this monday. i have been borderline about getting the extended warranty this whole time. i decided not to go with it even though i will be keeping the car for some time.

i know you really can't argue with peace of mind, but the rates are just way too expensive. if something were to happen to my vehicle (knocking on wood - hard) i plan on taking it to an independent shop that works only on bmw's, for a fraction of dealer costs. i hope i made the right decision.

Ok I will look into the BMW ones.

But how about the other company's out there that offer that service? Anyone use them or have anyone they can recommend?

Where you can get burned by that strategy is the cost of parts. Most independents charge the same as BMW for parts, and won't install parts you buy on your own, or at best, won't warranty the work.

A set of injectors would cost about the same as an extended warranty, just for the parts.

I got a GE aftermarket warranty 8 years or 120k miles for a little over 2k when I bought the car new. Covers more than the original factory warranty. Deductible is $100 per incident.

The warranty starts from the time of it's purchase. I can not purchase a warranty today that will go into effect three years from now which seems to be the case with your warranty.
You should check with your company to see if your extended warranty is running concurrently with your existing CPO warranty or not ?
