OEM Cross Bars (roof rack)?

I am looking to put a rack on my e92 335. I read a couple of different things when I searched this forum regarding what fits and what doesn't.

If I order the OEM cross-bars, can I put Thule components on them? When I go to the Thule website it says there are no products available for my car...

How hard are the OEM cross-bars to take on/off? Is this something you could do in a couple minutes? I don't really want to leave them on all the time...

Thanks,
Geoff

I have the base rack and ski attachment for my e90 325. Yes it comes off easily. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I have heard that Thule components fit but I bought the ski attachment from bmw.

Just FYI, I spoke to Thule OEM department directly today and they informed me that the BMW OEM crossbars are Thule European... and that none of the US Thule components fit, not even with the Xadapt. He said it may appear to fit in there, but the surface area isn't great enough to secure anything under any G forces.

All euro thule components should fit just fine. I ended up going with the BMW OEM bike racks... they are actually pretty nice.

Garage List

2018 F80 M3  [10.00]
2013 BMW E93 M3  [10.00]
I had the BMW bike rack on my E46 and they suck, the locks are not user friendly at all, I end up with BMW base rack and Thule attachment they work great. By the way Thule product are life time warrenty if you have any problem just bring it down to Thule dealer and they will replace them for free no question ask.

I think the cross bar design that the e90 uses is different than the one for the e46... The Thule cust-serv said that I shouldn't use any Thule US components, but that any Euro spec ones should be fine.

Which of these racks did you have:

or

or

or

I have the first one, and I am very happy with it so far, seems pretty solid.

My Thule box and bicycle carrier have universal attachments - should fit any cross bars.
