Never a good way to start the day....

As my mother was backing out of the driveway the morning, she 'forgot' that my car was behind hers and backed right into it. I guess the rearview cameras are useless if you don't look at the screen! Anyhow, I'm not here to vent. There are some scratches in between the two front grilles, and I'll probably fix this myself (very inconspicuous area). The only other damage is that the passenger side grill insert is no longer connected at the bottom. Although it won't pop out, the bottom part can be pulled up 1/2". Do I need to replace the grill?

Also, should I be looking for damage elsewhere?

most likely if the grill is damaged it will need replacement or if the grill is bulging out

Kind of funny - you drive a BMW yet live with your parents.

Thank you for answering the question without useless banter. Does anyone else have experience with these grilles?

Maybe his parents live with him in his house.

OP, you'll probably need a new kidney since it now moves around. Could have been worse though! Good luck

He obviously lives in mom's basement or he would have the garage spot.

I like the way someone asks a question and the get torn apart and ridiculed. why does is matter if he lives at home and drives a BMW. I guess only rich snobby assholes that do nothing but put down others are allowed to drive them oh wait those are the same ones that buy them and sit them in there garage and don't put any miles on it.

They are easy to pull out, there are two tabs on top and two on bottom, pull down (or up) and then pull grill out. Easy fix, order some blackened ones and upgrade. Think of it as an Christmas present from Mom.

Thank you for realizing this. Somehow visiting my parents for the holidays is not acceptable on this site. The purpose of this site is to share information and help eachother out, not tear someone apart when they ask for simple advice. To put it bluntly; if you don't have anything productive to say - say nothing at all.

Thanks for the advice. How can I be sure that it's just the kidney grill that needs replacing? Are there any interior clips that may be damaged?

did you try to snap the grill back in place? just wondering if the snap tabs are still good and it just popped out of place..if the only other damage are scratches (no dents/paint spider, etc) then everything else should be fine.. your mom probably wasn't on the gas while in reverse so it was probably a tad harder than a love tap..at worst

Try to see if it was just being popped out by impact. Pull the lose part out a little then press the bottom part down firmly while pushing it back in to see if it will reseat. There are famale tabs and male tabs, they must work together.

Don't feel too bad, my wife backed her car into a fire hydrant, smashed right into the backup camera.
