RainX

What do you guys think of RainX windshield wipers? Or post what windshield wipers you guys are using, because the stock ones really aren't doing the job in rough rain lol

Most wipers are designed to work well for 6 months.

My 2011 E91's wipers are starting to wear at 9K miles. While we do get a lot of rain in NL, it's a bit annoying.

I used PIAA's Silicon blades on my last car. They were three times the price of stock blades but lasted 4 times as long (2 years--metal part of the blade started to rust before the blade was worn). Perhaps worth checking out:

My stock wipers are going strong after 18 months and 16,000 miles. I'm surprised others have problems; the OEM wipers are the best I've experienced.

Sorry OP, no experience with RainX wipers.

RainX your windshield and buy good blades.

If you don't RainX your windshield then no wiper blades are going to perform that great.

Big fan of RainX (and their variants), I rarely need my wipers, and when it is really raining the water clears better with the wipers.

My car is working great so far from the factory. Should i put on RainX (the liquid stuff) or just be happy that it already works well enough?

I didn't like RainX because it eventually wears off and leaves the windshield in even worse shape getting water off than how it started.

Ive had the same issue. It was worse on my Wrangler (has a flat windshield).

I like RainX but haven't used it in like ten years.

Since this thread is about the wiper blades though, I don't know why you would buy RainX-branded wiper blades. I feel like I'm getting taken in by an infomercial when I see them. Branding fail.

I second that. RainXing the windshield makes a world of difference. Blades don't need to be RainX, but don't skimp and get cheap ones, either.

OP: Are you referring to the Rain-X "Repel" or "Latitude" wiper blades?

BMW uses the Bosch "Icon" blades which are similar in design with the Rain-X.

Here are details of the "Repel" blades by Rain-X which utilizes some sort of special coating:

Quote:
Rain-X® Repel Wiper Blades
THE ONLY WIPER BLADE TO APPLY RAIN-X® WATER-BEADING TECHNOLOGY

Water repellency is transferred directly to the windshield to improve visibility when you need it the most. This revolutionary water-repellent technology causes water to bead-up and roll-away while driving for increased visibility in wet weather!

Rain-X® Repel wiper blades are coated with a patented water-repellent technology that is transferred directly to the windshield as the wiper blades wipe to repel rain, snow, ice, mud and bugs.

Time-Release Coating - begins to deliver visible water-beading within 3-5 minutes of activation, and continues to deliver enhanced driving visibility over tens of thousands of wipes!
Installation is Fast - visible water-beading in minutes
High performance - designed to outlast conventional wipers
Advanced coating - reduces windshield chatter and delivers a smooth, clean wipe
Beam blade design - contours to the unique curvature of the windshield for greater visibility and virtually no streaking

Aquapel and OEM wipers FTW!!!

Kinda hard to see but both products look good though. Not sure if this video mentions it, but I saw in one video that RainX needs to be applied more often whereas aquapel is a annual or bi-annual treatment.

Oem wipers are the best. I do like the orange rain X washer fluid. As thr cheap blue stuff freezes and don't clean as well.

Aquapel doesn't seem that much better than Rainx. Hell, it seems almost as good as this brand name rain repellent washer fluid that I bought.

I believe the RainX and Bosch Icons can fit on the e9x. But the wiper arm cover will NOT fit over those blades. The cover will only fit over the OEM Valeo blades.

You can use them without the cover but it looks bad though.
