RainX
What do you guys think of RainX windshield wipers? Or post what windshield wipers you guys are using, because the stock ones really aren't doing the job in rough rain lol

Most wipers are designed to work well for 6 months.
My 2011 E91's wipers are starting to wear at 9K miles. While we do get a lot of rain in NL, it's a bit annoying. I used PIAA's Silicon blades on my last car. They were three times the price of stock blades but lasted 4 times as long (2 years--metal part of the blade started to rust before the blade was worn). Perhaps worth checking out: http://www.piaa.com/WiperBlades/ |

My stock wipers are going strong after 18 months and 16,000 miles. I'm surprised others have problems; the OEM wipers are the best I've experienced.
Sorry OP, no experience with RainX wipers. |

RainX your windshield and buy good blades.
If you don't RainX your windshield then no wiper blades are going to perform that great.

Big fan of RainX (and their variants), I rarely need my wipers, and when it is really raining the water clears better with the wipers.

My car is working great so far from the factory. Should i put on RainX (the liquid stuff) or just be happy that it already works well enough?

probably one of those areas you can get the cheapest blades that fit the car and keep moving

I didn't like RainX because it eventually wears off and leaves the windshield in even worse shape getting water off than how it started.

I like RainX but haven't used it in like ten years.
Since this thread is about the wiper blades though, I don't know why you would buy RainX-branded wiper blades. I feel like I'm getting taken in by an infomercial when I see them. Branding fail.

What he said
I second that. RainXing the windshield makes a world of difference. Blades don't need to be RainX, but don't skimp and get cheap ones, either.

OP: Are you referring to the Rain-X "Repel" or "Latitude" wiper blades?
BMW uses the Bosch "Icon" blades which are similar in design with the Rain-X. Here are details of the "Repel" blades by Rain-X which utilizes some sort of special coating: Quote:

Aquapel and OEM wipers FTW!!!
Kinda hard to see but both products look good though. Not sure if this video mentions it, but I saw in one video that RainX needs to be applied more often whereas aquapel is a annual or bi-annual treatment. |

Aquapel doesn't seem that much better than Rainx. Hell, it seems almost as good as this brand name rain repellent washer fluid that I bought.

I believe the RainX and Bosch Icons can fit on the e9x. But the wiper arm cover will NOT fit over those blades. The cover will only fit over the OEM Valeo blades.
You can use them without the cover but it looks bad though. |
