HELP - Nail in my run flats - Need wheel advice!

I've had my car for just about a month and.... drove over a giant nail today. I guess that gives me the perfect excuse for a new wheel and tire package

I love everything about the wheels that came with the car except that they're 18". I have a Space Gray / Coral Red E92 (pic at the bottom) and am unsure of what I like most - So here are the 4 options I am looking at:

1. 19" TSW Croft Wheels Gunmetal w/ Machined Face Finish

2. 19" Imola Machine Satin Black wheels from Eurosportrims.com. which are pretty much the HRE P40s.

3. 19" VMR V718s (gunmetal would look too tone in tone I think. Wish the came machine w/black).

4. 19" VMR VB3s - the reason I prefer these over the V718s is because they come hyper black through the manufacturer, whereas the V718s don't.

Overall I really like the machine look which is why I like #1 and #2. I feel like the VMRs are a good price but then again everyone has them. My brother has VMRs on his Alpine White M3 and they do look pretty sick.

I attached a few pics so please let me know opinions! Please note that the pics show 20" wheels and I would get 19".

I hope not because that would make it impossible for me to justify a new wheel/tire package

Looks more like a screw to me with a hex head don't tell him

PS. I think that screw (most likely missing from under the hood of his car holding some little clamp to the body that secured a wire) is properly no longer then say 3/8" if 1/2" at the most and only peeks thru the centre tire wall if at all.

Too close to the sidewall to plug. How much do you want for the remaining three tires?

Oh yeah- 18" wheels will perform better in every way except steering feel. The wheels with the 7 split spokes look best (middle choice)

I picked up a nail in the same spot on my 2 month old tires. Not fixable. If you ask the tire place, not bmw, they might be able to give you a credit for the old tire since it is still new. Mine knocked $150 off the price so it was only $350 for a tire.

I plugged a RFT in a similar location except it was located towards the inner part of the tire and it has held up fine.

You can plug that. Take it to Sears auto, I think they charge like $40.

Same here, brand new car with 400 miles and ran over a machine bolt about 3mm from the sidewall. I plugged it a few times lol and got about 29k miles off that tire.

Easily fixable if you know that the car has not been driven with severely low pressure.

Unfortunately these are run flats and the hole is too big to be patched. Spoke to the dealer today and due to liability issues they won't touch it. There is still a good amount of tread left and the tires are in good shape so I'm planning on putting the 3 left over run flats up for sale and getting a new wheel and tire package.

Take it to America's Tire/Discount Tire and they will fix it free of charge. The tire will be dismounted & inspected for any internal damage & will be repaired with no problem. Save your money!

Last week I had a nail in the center of the tread that worked itself out and left a very small hole in my RFT. Dealer wouldn't touch it either so I bought a new tire (personal logistics had me at the dealer for quickly needed turnaround that day), but I also took home my old one and patched it from the inside. If any of my other tires go, I now have a spare waiting to be mounted.

The dealer wants to sell you a new tire at 100% markup. Just take the tire to any real tire shop and they will patch it like any normal tire. If the tire was not run at 0 pressure then it is perfectly fine, and where that screw is located is far enough in from the sholder of the tire to warrant a patch repair. I patched one of my original RFTs that had a hole from a 3/8" lag bolt when they had about 1600 miles on it. I ran the tires to 22K miles, and then swapped out to new wheels. The patched, wornout, run-flat is still holding air after 3 years sitting in my garage.

But hey, if you want new tires and wheels, then by all means use it as an excuse.
