Exclamation Don't know whether or not to lemon this POS!!

Hey guys, so after only 7 months of having my 2010 335i coupe, I have experienced a few serious problems lately. It all started off with a lag in my engine starting a couple months ago, which was supposedly fixed with a computer upgrade (major bullshit)...then on Thanksgiving eve I was driving home on the freeway and had the "engine overheating" warning light come on which automatically starting dropping my acceleration and coulda caused me to be killed if I hadn't pulled over immediately...

And now my most recent incident happened just the other night as I was starting up my car I get yet another warning saying "engine malfunction" which then caused my car to start rattling and shaking like crazy! WTF is wrong with this company making such shitty ass engines????

I am soooo disappointed being that this is my first ever BMW coming from 2 Acuras (which had never given me 1 problem) so I don't know what to do...I am actually just leasing this car and have spent almost $10,000 in payments including the down.

Should I try getting this car lemoned or fight with my dealer to get me out of this lease and possible trade it in for a new bmw, most likely a 328i (no more turbos for me!!). I'm going to see my dealer tommorow.

Any advice would help, thanks guys!

Sorry to hear about your car. I was considering a 2011 335, However, I'm going to keep my 2008 328 spt pkg, BMW PE. My car has been trouble free with 24,000 miles. Good luck at the dealership. I'm sure things will work out for you.

In California, it takes 3 times in for the same repair without a fix for you to lemon a car. Doesn't sound like you qualify. But you can go talk to them and see what they might offer you on your car for the 328, certainly.

Or more than 30 days in the shop.

Turn it in and get the newer 335i which had no problem with HPFP.

So you guys think I can have them take my car back and start up a new lease with another BMW since I might not qualify for a lemon?

I'm looking at the 2011 335i lease terms which seem pretty nice with $0 down $549/month...I wish I could get the exact car color combo again which is LMB on black with the M-package...but oh well, we'll see.

Thanks for the input

Do a search here, there are a few members already had their 335s bought back by BMW, some lemon lawyers specialize in such things, call a lawyer to find out your options. Sounded like you may get a buyback, which would be ideal for you.

Come on really I need a spare BMW??? What does that tell you about its reliability?

So far I am dissatisfied with their service its like they take us for idiots God knows what they are really doing when they service your car and thats why many people have this same issue over and over again....

I dunno I'm just super frustrated and don't think any of us who spend soooo much $$ driving this brand deserve to go through this headache of getting your car towed, getting a loaner, etc...

I spent months trying to find this exact car and now its gone to shit. I'll keep you guys posted as to what happens...

i was ranting a couple of weeks ago about my 135i, same as you.

but, i'll tell you what: it's the only car i've ever driven that i progressively like a little more each month that goes by.

weird.

I've had 6 HPFPs replaced tho no problems with latest one *knock on wood*. But I would never give this car up for anything else. Its just so awesome. BMW pays for the fix each time and gives me a loaner so i cant complain.

I don't understand some of you guys not minding having your car towed over and over, getting a loaner, having your pumps replaced a hundred times...NO car is worth this much anguish IMO

Try driving a 930 turbo or a lotus esprit twin.

The Porsche engine was so violent I had to have the valves re-torqued every 1500 miles.

But man, that car was fun!

a lot of of people on this forum will gladly bring in their car 5x per month if thats what it take to drive a bmw..they have too much time on their hands. Just like the idea of getting a spare BMW, like it's a pair of slippers or something..dumbest sh*t ive ever heard in my life. Id say deal with the next few problems like the fuel pump, if its still a headache get rid of it.. they arent the most reliable but they arent THAT bad.

Just another friendly reminder for those tired of hpfp failures to consider the 335d. It's a comparable performer to your 335i but doesn't suffer from hpfp failures. In fact its reliability record here and in Europe is pretty much spotless. The fuel economy is a nice bonus too. If you're adamant about trading your car in, I can think of no better alternative.
