Headlight shaking/bouncing?

Hey everyone:

I'm new to the forum and love the E92, but need to know if anyone else has found their headlights to "shake" when traveling over certain bumps...

I have only driven the car twice since I got it last week; but noticed today while driving on PCH that over certain (sharper) bumps the passenger-side headlight's beam seems to jostle up and down as if it's loose???

After getting out of my CL, I was hoping for a more problem-free ride...

Anyone else experience this?

DIY fix or stealership?

Thanks in advance,
OC kid

It's the car that's moving, the headlights are staying level. No fix needed since it's normal. I've never noticed it though.

Thanks for the replys,

I'm not talking about a smooth transition as when it auto-levels...

This is a fast abrupt "shake" only visible on the passenger side light; especially when you are able to see the "reflection" in a car close in front of you...

Thanks guys

Car bounces differently on each side, you bounce in sync with the drivers side but differently from the passengers side so it looks to you like the passenger's bulb shakes. That would be my guess.

if other people have it i'd guess it was a damper built into the housing to allow movement so it doesn't absorb too much shock from road imperfections.

My new coupe had a headlight that wouldn't level properly. It ended up pointing up and to the left and it cast an overlapping (both high and low) pattern in front of the car. I ended up taking it in to the dealer for adjustment & they are replacing the assembly. I recommend that you get yours checked out by the dealer if your not satisfied that the headlights are correctly lighting the road ahead of you. In my case, the did a nice job of spotting squirrels in the trees as I drove past...

So far this has been the only real problem -- and I'm happy to have it replaced.

They all do that.
The dealer replaced mine and the replacements were the same.
I've gotten somewhat used to it, but it is disconcerting.

Normal. Don't even notice it anymore.

I have noticed this too--it is only annoying when I pay attention to it....

My Volvo XC70 with biXenon lights does the same. Dealer told me this can't be fixed. Looks to me, that this is not a specific problem to BMW's.
