It's called welcome lighting and it is not available on pre-lci e9Xs.

You can wire the AE to your footwell light and they will fade on and off.

I had this setup for about a year before taking it off. Reason for taking off is because my passenger side burned out and it looks funny with only one side lit up....I'm waiting for a replacement under warranty.

Not true.....my 08 335i has it but I do have iDrive and was able to select it under the settings menu. If you don't have iDrive then maybe the dealer can program it for you or a local indy shop with the right tools.

Won't work on MY '06. I know that for a fact. Whether it can be coded or not.....IDK.

It can be wired though. I've done that.

It looks like welcome lighting became a feature sometime in '07....which sucks for us. One year off

lol @ *********.. and he sounded sooo confident too!

+1 on 07 with welcome lights (no i-drive)... I've actually been trying a bunch of things out.. did you know with the switch to auto while driving, if it is not too dark out just the halo's come on, no parking (amber) lights on the exterior, or interior/dash lights/led's that would normally come on with the light switch set to parking

That's entirely different from welcome lights.

Correct. That's called Pathway Lighting and is different from the Welcome Lights.

The Welcome Lights will also come on if the car is unlocked and you just open the door (provided you have a fob in your pocket), at least for those with CA. Also, if you do too many lock/unlock sequences without starting the car in between, the Welcome Lights will temporarily stop working to save battery life.

I think this is called pathway lighting.

Welcome lighting are lights that turn on when you unlock the car from a distance.

edit: oops, missed the post above.
