Any risk if water comes through a crack in the underbody engine sheild?

If the front bumper has been pulled a little bit, exposing a gap between the bumper and the underbody engine shield, and water ends up going through that gap (due to rain), can that be a problem?

I figure everything is well sealed and it wouldn't matter -- particularly because some folks even wash their engine bay.

Just checking... I think that underbody engine shield is more for rocks or debris than water.

Thanks.

No. Our cars have other ways of water getting in.

Of course not. The shield is only for aerodynamics and looks.

Cool...

ChasVS: and for protecting the oil pan, I've heard, since apparently that is at the bottom of the engine.

It doesn't do shit for protecting the oil pan. I bottomed out one time with 5 people in my car......dealer had to replace the pan.

It's mainly for aerodynamics (as mentioned before) and also to prevent kick up from road debris....and I guess water too but it's not a huge deal for a little bit of water to get in or debris for that matter.

I wish. I would not have had to replace my pan/filter after running over a piece of metal in the interstate putting a hole in it
