2009 328i Dead on Road

Last Sunday my car with 29K miles wouldn't start and was towed to the dealer. The dealer said it was the fuel pump and replaced it. Tonight, while driving the car home from work, it suddenly lost power and after pushing it to the side of the road, it wouldn't start.

The car was towed to the dealer for the second time in a week where it sits in front of the service dept.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem?

Bad luck is causing the problems. The 328i is rock solid so you just happen to be unlucky.

Unusual, but why would a dealership replace the fuel pump? They are supposed to perform diagnostics which would show if it were that or not. A wild guess is electronics, not fuel, on a 328.

2009 328i Dead on Road-Update

Dealer found the right side fuel sending unit came off the holder inside tank. They reinstalled /replaced seal and clamp and rechecked for normal operation.

Service Manager admitted they screwed up when they installed the new fuel pump last week.

Ahh good good, glad it was just a human error - is your love restored?

I don't think N52s have an HPFP, but a LPFP.
