Warm spot on side of transmission tunnel

A warm spot has developed on my transmission tunnel, right where my leg rests against it while driving. It's just beneath the front edge of the center stack, and it's getting gradually warmer over the last few days. What would cause that? Should I be concerned?

Search for the tech service bulletins. There is a tsb about this. I'm thinking of getting mine fixed as well.

Noticed this in our E91 last winter, but didn't feel like it was bad enough for a service visit and dismantling of the center console. There is a service bulliten for it - about a year or more ago.. do a search for it, or call your SA.

I think the heat duct that runs to the rear passenger area is up against the inside of the console (plastic). I believe the solution was for them to put some foam insulators in there...

i thought it might be a heat duct thing, so I cranked up the A/C full blast. Didn't cool it down.

My e92 has the same issue. Hasn't really bugged me that much. Might be a different story in the summer....

did u guys check your the temperature dial on your rear vents? that temp dial sets the temperature for the rear regardless of what your temp is set in the front, e.g. u will still have hot air coming out of the rear if the dial is switched to "red" in the rear even if your AC system is blowing cold air up front. the hot air passes thru the center console area which causes that whole area to warm up.

thats another thing, if ur blowing ac in the front, u have to make sure the back is on the blue or else you get warm air in the back, and you actually notice the difference.

my car gets really really hot on my leg when i drive, especially the longer the ride is. doesnt seem normal.

do you guys think i should bring to the dealership???

the dealerships areound here suck balls though, they're gonna drive the car for 5 minutes and say it didnt happen to them so they dont have to fix it.

they pretty much all do it. Just shut down the rear vents and you wont have a problem. If you have removed this piece, you will see how the ducts run through the center console...some foam really wont make a difference as the TSB suggests. I rarely have rear seat passengers, so I have the rear duct shut off, and the temp dialed to the blue. no problmes.

I went outside just now to check, and the rear temp dial was cranked to max! I guess my daughter was messing with it, or bumped it with her knee. Thanks for saving me time and embarrassment.
