06 325i non agm battery
so my battery is going out on my 2006 325i and dealership says new one is $250-$350 and that im going to need to reset the ECU? because it can set off warning lights but thats gonna cost $150 an hr. to reset it..
my question is does anyone know how i can reset the ecu on my own and just by the battery? or anyone know how to do it but charge cheaper? or maybe i can retrofit a Optima battery or something but then need to still reset the ecu telling it that theres a new battery in... any input will be veryh much appreciated please let me know any advice will help thanks everyone and happy holidays |

Buy your own battery (making sure it's the same spec) and take it too an indy shop for them to register it.....they don't reset the ECU.
Search for battery registration.....all your answers will be answered by searching as this topic has been brought up numerous times. |

No dealer needed
I had a bad battery in my 06 325i as well.
Wasnt looking forward to a 2 hr drive to dealer to replace but reluctantly called for appt. Service mgr said I could avoid a trip by buying a battery with same AMPERage. He said that the battery has to be introduced to the car and reprogrammed ONLY if you change from 90 to 70 or other. The reprogram tells the alternator how much juice to send to it.He recommended an INTERSTATE battery. Interstate wanted $153, but Sam's Club had it for $116. BIG SAVINGS over battery and programming at dealer for $400 plus. HATS OFF to Garlon Sheldon BMW in Bryan/ College Station for the great advice. |

Take the car to an independent shop get a good battery (ex.Interstate etc.) and have them register the battery to your car. If they are unable, find another shop, you WILL have problems if the battery isn't registered. I was able to have this done, battery & reg for $214.
