Welded Diff?

Okay, it seems like all the info out there on LSDs is pretty 135i specific. For instance, the fact that all manual and DCT 135is have welded diffs, whereas the older step autos seem to be able to accept simple bolt-on LSDs. But not too much info out there for us 128iers.

So does anyone know if we have welded diffs or not? Specifically the 6MTs? I'm considering a Quiafe ATB, but am wondering if this is a simple bolt-on proposition or not? Anyone have an LSD on their 128i?

The original diff is hopefully bolted.
I've got one on my 125i for a complete year now.
And it's a must... it's snowing a lot these days, I love it.

Thanks for the response.

Your 125i's diff was definitely bolted? Is it a manual transmission?

Anyone with a 6MT 128i know for sure?

Yes it's a manual transmission.
Look out for some LSD thread here, this subject has been discussed a lot here.
The best way is to get in touch with the guys @ autobirds, they'll tell if they've already sold some LSD to 128 drivers.

Should be bolted on the NA powered BMW 1 and 3-series.

Thanks for the info, Harold - definitely becomes more affordable in this case.
