Desperate...which one would u choose E90 325i or E92 320d

Here in Cyprus the price of the E92 320d is 25.600 CYP. That's 29.000 GB pounds.
On the other side the price of E90 325i is 31.000 CYP. That's 35.220 GBP.

I know, the prices are outrageous but...at this price difference would u choose an E90 325i over the E92 320d (which now has 177bhp)? Is it worth the extra money? The power is what mainly concerns me. The 41bhp difference is not a small one IMHO.

Your lights please!

By the way anyone knows what's the increase of torque of E92 320d over the E90 320d?

The 320d has 163hp / 340nm and will deliver 49.6 mpg

The 325i has 218 /250nm and will deliver 33.6 mpg

The 325i is technically quicker and has a lovely straight six petrol engine.

The 320d will feel almost as quick in everyday use and will give you much greater fuel economy as well as a big saving up front.

For me this represents the difficulty of the new diesels - they are so good that it's really hard to justify NOT getting one.

If I could afford it I would get the 325i - but this is a very personal choice.

Thanx for the quick reply.

One thing though, the new E92 320d has 177bhp not 163bhp as the E90 has. I guess this makes it harder to choose...

I would definitely go with the 320d, especially now that it has more power. In everyday driving you are not going to notice much difference compared to the 325 and the coupé is a lot sexier (except for the bland rear).

The 320d will actually feel faster in everyday driving than the 325i, since it has considerably more torque. For high performance driving, the 325i will be better since it weighs less and has a more progressive power band (as opposed to a huge wave of torque in a fairly limited range).

You can't compare torque with power...

In the end I think what NFS has said is completely true. I don't think you take your car to a dragstrip do you? Than the 320d is the most sensible option, it feels (and is) just as quick as the 325i.

Or do have fuelprices any impact in the costs?

Than I should go for the 320d.

Seen the price difference between the 325i and the 320d you have another option: When you want a four-door maybe an Alpina D3 is something you want, a little bit faster and more exclusive.

Already thought that before. But as far as I know Alpina's don't come in Cyprus. And I guess I can't order one from the official BMW.

Normally a BMW dealer does sell these cars, but the number of dealers is limited (my dealer actually does sell these cars).
Perhaps you can try asking your dealer if he will import such a car.

Sellingpoints worldwide:
http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/de...t_weltweit.php

I don't see Cyprus in the list. So perhaps it isn't possible.

Thanx for the reply. Already checked that. Even Greece isn't on the list.

Don't know, I 'll check with my dealer.

What about 325d? it has 197hp and it's a V6 I would say if you're looking at diesel engines this one is optimal! I know it costs the same as 325i. As for the model e90 vs e92 it depends on which one you like more. IMO if you're buying a car for EUR 45k you should spend those extra 2000 and get the car you really like, i'm guessing you are not buying it for less than at least 4 years

One thing to set some things straight: All BMW 6 cylinders are 6-inline not V6's. Terrible mistake.

(BMW is one of the last manufacturers producing these type of engine, that's why driving BMW is a little bit more special...)

well, 320d is a good car but definetely not a good BMW. do you know what you get under the bonnet in 325i? a legendary straight petrol 6-cylinder.

the only + for 320d is the fuel economy and lower price, 325i holds all the others - great sound, better performance, possibility to rev the engine up to 7.200 rpms (what is a special experience) etc. etc. can you afford 325i? go for it, you won't regret.

I don't think this is on sale in the UK yet - certainly there is no info on the BMW website.

But then I didn't choose 'sensibly' - I bought a 330i

This sells the 320d short - it is WAY better than that.

However - it is NOT as good as any straight six BMW - petrol or diesel.
