Sticking Door Handles anyone?

I've been a member on this forum for over a year now and havent really heard any complaints about sticking door handles on the rear doors of the E90. Since the past summer I've noticed the door handles on both rear doors of my 2006 E90 stick when I open them...and dont return to their normal position (as if they arent properly lubricated). I rarely have any rear passengers and dont often open my rear doors. I went in for an oil change the other day and brought the issue up with the dealer and was informed a number of E90's have been in with the same problem. Needless to say they are ordering me new door handles covered under warranty. Anyone here come across this problem?

Mine too.. on all doors.

Frustratingly if you dont notice when you pull the door shut it bounce back to ajar as the locking mechanism is out also stuck out of the way.

Strangely these seems to have come on all of a sudden and to all doors even the drivers which clearly is used most.

try putting white lithium grease...better then wd-40....stays in place and helps lubricate.

I had the exact same problem and another one also. My first issue was the locking mechanism would start to grind every time I would lock the car and it just got louder and louder as time went on. With the locking mechanism and sticking handle issue, it got to the point where I could no longer open the driver door from the inside. So I would definitely have the dealer fix it. Had the locking mechanism and handles replaced and now no problems what so ever.

Mine started sticking in November. When I took it in for a different problem I mentioned it to the SA and I haven't had a problem with it since. I wonder if they did anything to it.

One of my rears started doing it, so I lubricated it with Finish Line all weather mountain bike lube. Seems to have done the job.

It's off and on with mine on both cars, but more on the E90. Cold weather seems to make it worse. I think it's a pretty typical issue.

I've been having the same problem on my 06 E90... Seems to get worse with the cold weather. Occassionally get a grinding noise from the automatic unlock (in the rear doors) as well when it gets really cold. I'll mention it to the SA next time I'm in... The FTM alarm went off again - I'm sure it's related to sudden drops in temperature.

I also started having the problem with my driver front door. I told the S/A when i took my car in for the first service, and the new tires .The dealer said the door handle was defective so they have ordered a new one. I am just waiting for it to arrive. The weather had no effect on it some times in closed and some times it did not.

Same here. The M3 is not near as bad as the E90 in that regard and the back doors are worse than the front ones.

I had all 4 handles replaced my car.

There is a TSB on this ---- 511406.

As for dealer that recommended WD-40 It makes a great paint remover.

do u have the tsb print out?

wd40 isnt strong enough to strip paint, unless you let it sit there for days. Ive used wd40 to degrease my painting motorcycle wheels for years and never had a problem.

Sure, but as you said, if it is left to sit (eg spray it into the handles where it could pool and sit) it certainly could lead to paint degredation and early wear. It's not like brake fluid, but I certainly wouldn't want it anywhere near the paint of my car. Do you use it as tar remover?

Same problem here. Rear door handles.

Since its under warranty, might as well bring it back to the dealer. Get a car wash out of it.
