OK you guys convinced me.
After I posted "Good news! My car isn't being built", I got a lot of advice to add Comfort Access to my yet to be built 335i. I went to the Phila car show today and one of the BMW SAs gave me the same advice to add the CA. Thanks everyone for your help an expertise. I'm calling my SA on Monday to add it. Now do I delete the rear park control or keep it? BTW I am leasing.

Ja, CA is the salesperson or Client Advisor. The funny thing was he was going to tell the SA about the CA when it's really telling the CA about the CA.

I find that it helps when squeezing into a tight parallel parking spot, other than that, I've never had to rely on my parking sensors as of yet. So if you never have to parallel park, you could probably go without it. Just my two cents.

I recommend the PDC as its pretty high on the coolness scale. The PDC allows you to be aware of items below the level the rearview mirror shows. If you ever back into a parking space it lets you know how how close you are to the other car with a graphic display. Friends how haven't gotten it say they should have got it when they see mine. Its not like its very expensive either...

Do it - you originally ordered it on your car so don't second guess your gut instincts.
I ordered both PDC and Comfort Access on my car. What is another $350? The first time you accidentally back into a car/parking meter/what have you, the cost to fix your bumper will be a whole lot more than $350. Yes, there are hundreds of posters that will say, "I don't need PDC, I can parallel park just fine". But I bet half of them ordered other creature comforts such as Comfort Access but could easily hit the unlock button on their key fob. They would rather spend $500 because of the cool factor/convenience/laziness than spend $350 for a safety feature and boost their ego because only "poor drivers need PDC". (although that last bit has never been said verbatim it has been implied numerous times) With that being said, I can parallel park just fine but I ordered PDC for peace of mind and the coolness factor, and I ordered comfort access for convenience (I originally wasn't going to get it, but after reading hundreds of posts of people who love the convenience I figured, "what was another $500?" PDC is a great and value priced convenience option. Do you need it? No, but its nice to have when parking.

Keep it, very nice to have. And doesn't show much if your car is black.

I guess on some cars it's noticeable, but I never even see mine unless I'm looking for them.

With that low intercooler dam up front, I always back into the parking spots. Even so, there are curbs high enuf to do damage to the rear skirt when backing in. And with that high trunk, the PDC comes in handy for that last 6 inches to the step. PDC is worth the cost.

It's really not noticeable unless you actually take the time to get up close and personal with the rear bumper.
I know this isn't the best picture to back up my claim, but as you can see the holes are barely visible, especially on SG!

I never used PDC before so I'm curious:
1. Can PDC pick up small objects like a pet or a block that might be below the sensor height, but tall enough to hit the bumper? 2. Is the response fast enough when an object appears in the sensor zone? (for example, kid walks by not seeing me reverse)? 3. Does anyone have more pics of the holes? (let's say...on a space gray?!) It would have been much cooler with an infrared sensor display. --I'm starting a new thread since this thread started off with CA issues... Last edited by killer_bee; 02-06-2007 at 11:08 AM.. |

2. It's very fast, someone can swing their arm very quickly past the rear bumper and it will pick up on it.
