Seatbelt Alarm in 335i Coupe
Does anyone know how to deactivate the seatbelt alarm. There is no seatbelt law in my state and I find that alarm quite annoying after starting the car! Any Ideas?

Their was a thread i read about that taking out a fuse will stop the seat belt butler. And what people do is, put the seatbelt clip inside the seatbelt thing and it will stop the sound... Then again some said it "might" stop the passenger airbag from comming out. My personal opinion, why not wear a seat belt?.. It only takes 2 seconds to put on, and it can determine if you will live or walk again after a God Forbid accident. Be save Dude. Even if it was not neccesary to put on your seatbelt here in NJ, i would still put on my seatbelt and ask my passangers to put theirs on. I might drive good, but theirs always people who don't. Be Safe! And welcome to the board. I see it's your first post. don't forget to use the Search Button as many new members don't. It will prevent you from posting many simple questions that are answered in many threads. Stay cool

yeah it seems so foreign to me that people would rather not wear a seatbelt, it's become second nature to me - but varying perspectives, that's why we're on this forum right?

Even if it wasn't the law, and it apparently is, why wouldn't you wear a seat belt? It's simple physics.

there is nothing cool about not wearing your seatbelt. the first couple days might annoy you... but after that, you'll feel your self gripping your seat much better and you'll love to have it on. race car drivers wear seat belts...don't htink your cooler or a better driver than they are.. so wear it and stop whinnning!!

before i got my first car i saw a video in high school (drive ed) and all the people decapitated due to no seatbelt use... MAN that was not a nice people, all for a simple 2 second thing... Anyway when i got my car, all my friends didn't wear seatbelts because they though it was not cool (high school). Well i wore mine. It felt kind of dorky. But after a week i got used to it. And as posted above, you feel secure and gripped. well i got in one GOOD accident and the belt helped me from getting hammered by the steering wheel. Well anyway my friends are all somewhat grown up now and matured more (26+) they all where their seat belts...

Wearing seatbelts is a "Natural Selection" thing. The strong (in this case smart) will survive by wearing them...you know how the rest goes.

seatbelt law or no seatbelt..who follows the laws anyways? 55mph speed limit...do you only go past that if your state allows that? nooo... so why the difference?! so just wear your seatbelt and get over this drama. only people i know that don't wear their seatbelts, are kids in high school...

No seatbelt = stupid (I'm in high school and that's still my opinion)
If you want to disable the arm because you don't like it thats fine, but I personally think it's one of the coolest features of the car. Even with the arm disabled you still need to wear a seatbelt. On a related note, I love the fact that the car beeps like crazy if someone doesn't have a belt on, I can tell my friends that may not otherwise wear a belt they have to put it on for the car to shut up.

NH also does not have helmet laws...their state motto "Live Free or Die", is heavily weighted to that die part.

I find the alarm to be a lifesaver (literally). Everytime I may forget to put it on, the beeping annoys me enough that I put it on promptly to quiet it. Even when someone else comes in my car that may forget to put it on gets the beeping where I tell them to put it on or it will beep for the next 5 minutes.

Remember the old days when that stupid law was out on on making the cars not to start without the seatbelt buckled in?
Alot of people got pissed off and bypassed the system and the law was struck down. |

I am not aware that there was any law like that. There was a law in the early '90s that was just as stupid that cars had to have "passive restraints" (ie airbags), so some manufacturers got around this by using those stupid motorized belts.

You had to sit in the seat and buckle up before it would be allowed to start. I was restoring a '74 Nova which is sitting here in my driveway now and took out the front bench seat to find cut and bypassed wiring under it...a call to my uncle confirmed he and my dad did bypass the seatbelt and weight switch so it would start as every normal car. Almost a year ago my local auto shop (bro used to work there and knows the owner good) had 2 BMW sports seats they were selling for $300. I borrowed one to see if it would fit in my '99 Z28, it wouldn't without a offset bracket modification (I don't have an access to a welder and a machine shop to make them) But the idea came up to using them in my '74 Nova...I brought both of them for $200! I was told it came from a 2003 or 2004 M3 (black leather sports seats) 2 hours later after making spacers and drilling through the floorboard in the Nova plus electrical power wiring, Volia I had electric BMW seats in my Chevy Nova |
