Is this in america where the evos are subpar in power and missing ayc compare to the japanese evos? haha but cool 335i can run with evos thats nice. They are both my favourites cars. I wana see a tune 335i vs a tuned evo 9 race

Nice write up..... For a second I thought you were going to say that the 335 beat the EVO...... My old neighbour has a EVO MR and having driven his car (stock at the time) there is NO WAY a stock 335 (even with exhaust & stuff) will keep up with that monster.....Even with a chip..... you are not going to beat an EVO from a stop.... I would actually be skeptical even from a roll....

I test drove Evo MR before i purchased the335. My brother in law is in love with evos, and thats how I got to test drive one. I was not impressed at all with its straight line speed off a rolling start (like 30 mph). But if you wanna launch a car hard, with no worries EVO is the way to go. Thats where evo's biggest advantage comes from. Thats why a stock evo puts awesome 1/4 mile times.
Stock to stock, i wont even attempt to race an evo or a subi from dead stop. On the other hand, i wont hesitate a second to take on a evo or a subi on a roll stock to stock. |

Cool thing about evos is you can just bounce off the rev limiter then dump the clutch.. Awd is great in the digs.

Also what type of bolt on mods did he have, if you know. It's a lot more to 'bolt on' for an Evo than just intake/header/exhaust. There's o2 housing, wastegate actuator, etc. From just the mods you listed, I know it's at least 300whp and is capable of running mid 12s. And like others stated, the Evo is great from a full stop, but not so great from a roll. |

Exactly, turbo 4s have NO top end at all, at speed, especially triple digits, they suck. But if it's a redlight style race from a dig, let them go and pull away normal speed or you'll be choking on exhaust.

Nice post! Great story.
As the OP surely knows, this comparison has been discussed quite a bit. There are very few stock cars that can match up to a EVO IX. The 335i comes close, but not quite. A PROcede equipped (haha, gotta use the right name now) should win against a stock EVO IX, but it's no longer apples-to-apples, and will still get killed by a modded EVO. Regardless, our stock car is fast enough that you won't be ashamed to play with an EVO. Get a PROcede and you'll want to play much more Take comfort in the fact that chicks dig our car much more than they do an EVO or STI.

Ill get some videos up next week of me and my buddy with the sti going at it. He has full bolt on's WITHOUT ecu remap. So hes running larger top mount intercooler, turbo back exhaust, CIA, Pullies, and other crap too hard for me to remember off the top of my head. Ill have procede by then so it will end up being a drivers race still. PS. I go to the track with him all the time. Last time we went to quall comm he was doing a 8.7 @ 78 mph with a 1.9 60 ft. I was doing a 8.9 @81 mph with a 2.2 60 ft.

Yes I have driven EVO, took it to triple digits few times. It just does not have the top end of a 335. Especially on a 100 mph roll evo wont cut it. It will be a good fight, but it wont beat 335. Next time watch the speedometer of both cars after 100, and see how the bmw pulls and pulls. And remember in 335 you dont really feel how fast you are going unless you look at the gauge. On the other hand, you can tell after 100 evo does flatten out in the acceleration. I am not saying evo is slow after 100, it will still beat many cars but not 335 on the top end stock to stock.

But the newer sti's are stupid fast out of the hole. They changed their gearing so now they are even faster. If we were talking about old model sti's like 02-05, then its a real drivers race. Give me till friday and ill post some camparo runs. Ill try to video the dyno day on friday. For sure Ill have footage of a 05 gto fully bolt on making 400 rwhp and torque to do comparos with. Ill also see if my friend wth the sti will come if he doesnt have work. Just hold off till friday and ill see what I can scrounge up
