New photos of E92 M3 from 1.Feb.07 - no more rear bumper camo?

I hope that is the final resting place for the license plate. The photoshops with the plate on the rear bumper were giving me nightmares!

I got to say that if that is the final design its pretty dissappointing! what was the point of all that camo to suddenly unveil this. It doesn't look agressive, it doesn't look much better than 2002 non sport coupe. it seems like they designed this on Friday afternoon and couldnt wait to leave. 'Oh that will do'

Like said before though i'm sure the real thing will be amazing. Just dissapponted with it. Good find.

There is no need to over-style the rear diffuser just for the sake of differentiation from the standard car. There is no need to move the license plate from the boot lid where there is plenty room, to an over-crowded area on the bumper cover, just to replace the nicely sculpted (albeit stock 3-series) rear boot lid with a flat expanse devoid of character. I'm sure BMW feels the same way.

i agree that it shouldnt't be over done but the M3 is the flag ship and is meant to be the forefront. The M3 is agressive, they dont design the car thinking lets make it powerfulish, subtle, or half agressive. I dont know how everyone else feels about this new exposed bumper but i just think its a bit tame!

I dont care where the plate is, with all the camo it looked like it was definately a possibility that it would be bumper but it makes little difference in the grand scheme. And all that secrecy for a bit of mesh is a bit of a dissapointment.

Not much left now i guess the main thing is the vents.

To be honest with you BMW is really starting to loose it's appeal to me, they play they bait, and they use you...there products are okay...I really think you have better products and wiith the last 5 and 3 series they have really fallen off to me..what keeps them going is they leak info, baut you and wait to see what the other guy does then they launch....2 years for the new M-3 and they have had the new convertible out for what a few months now...and no prices for the United states..fuck you BMW go play with the boy else where make mine a new caddilac CTS

Let the differentiation come from four liters of snarling alloy V8 under the bonnet! I think they have done quite a bit to make sure that it is unmistakebly an M3, although the overall shape is a bit subtle. For those who wanted more aggressive styling moves, look how the Lexus IS-F turned out.

Hats off to BMW so far!

Agreed.. BMW has never been about extremely overt styling, there's the aftermarket for those interested in that. BMW's have always been about the engineering and the driving experience. Sure there are badge whores out there who purchase BMW's just for the badge, but there's also a reason why BMW's get praise in the magazines year after year.

I totally agree with what you are saying and the car so far that has been uncovered hasnt dissappointed at all. But Jason are you entirely happy with this bumper / mesh. Dont get me wrong i'm not saying its awful just that its maybe bland.

My personal opinion? It could be more aggressive than what we see in that picture above. But then again I've never shied away from a car that looks a little understated in stock form since I'm always open to going to the aftermarket for more aggressive looking aero parts. However, I understand there are many out there who want something aggressive out of the box, especially for 55-70k. Hopefully however the production version looks, it will strike a happy median for those who want something aggressive and those who want something understated.

The wheel arches are pretty swollen relative to the garden variety 3-series, it just doesn't show in some of the angles and colors. I love how the rear bumper cover sweeps out to meet the extra width of the wheel arches.

Yep, agree with Randy.. seems that the arches just show better from some angles... i.e., see pic below. In the end I think the e92 m3's fenders won't have the dramatic bulge that the e46 m3 have (which I think everyone is comparing it to), but should still look nice.

Ah yes, I love that one. I'm not a big fan of the e46 M3 body, but I still like the car plenty. I think the e92 M3 is a more graceful transition from the regular e92 coupe, brought about mostly by the opportunities that the 'flame surfacing' allows which the e46 did not of course have.

The exhaust has rolled tips in those images. I wonder if the production version will? The other 3-series variants have them. I don't really care if it has rolled tips or not - they are harder to keep clean anyways.

i'm like 99% sure that is a 335 with the M Aero rear bumper and a different exhaust. you can really see gills on the side which the spy cars obviously do. and the car hasn't been debuted yet. NO WAY it would be on the open road before debut without camo. no way.
