335i vs 550i..&..335i vs 545i
Well went to one of the e60 post launch meets since I was invited. They wanted to see how well the 335i holds up vs a 550i a 545i and a 530i.
I have a 335i manual sedan. The 550i's had the smg tranmision and the 545i has a manual, 530i was auto. My girlfriend took videos of the races that took place. Now before some people start saying your dumb for street racing.... We did all races on secluded streets with no one on them. Since new houses were being made ect. Heres a few pics of the 550's and my car doing a 1/4 mile. Sorry for the pictures my girlfriend just learned how to use this camera today. PS. you'd be very suprised where the 335i stands agaisnt these big v8's. Remember my car is stock. Kens 545 is stock also. That thing is a factory beast btw. There you go some comparisons on where the 335i stand with other bimmers. Hope you enjoy it. Too all the other guys that were there, thanks alot for the invite I had tons of fun. PS. Only car that had a passenger was me ( 335 ) I wanted to make the races as even as possible so weight wouldnt be a factor. Sorry guys my band width exceeded. If there still a high amount of people that want to view the videos ill try to find another host. Sorry again

It was nice meeting you today bro. Good times today. I'm glad I made the drive out.
Maybe we can do a few more runs before you get the xede installed. We need to do more runs from a dig where we both get good starts. I think each time I got the jump from a dig, I missed second. Post some of those race vids if you get a chance. The 335 is quick and with the xede, it'll be game over. For our runs, getting the jump makes a huge difference. The V8 seems to be a bit lethargic at times depending on the RPM, while the 335i gets a good jump seemingly every time. BTW, for the pics, try to edit out the license plates if you can. |

BTW, I don't believe you ran Joe today, but last time we did runs, I think he pulled a bit at the top of 3rd or maybe 4th gear. He was running a mixture of 100 octane and 91 so that may help a bit at speed.

Ya im glad I got someone to cover for me at work. Ya hopfully we can get some runs before I get xede installed. But I would also like to get some runs after too. So I can see how much of a difference it is. The good thing about the 335i is the super flat torque curve in any rpm. So it gets really good jumps. I was really surprised how well it did up top, esp agaisnt v8's. Ya I totally forgot that I didnt edit that plate out. Thanks for the reminder.

The next time you run chris/550, he might have a VF SC (stage 1) installed so that should be a pretty good match up against a 335 with the xede. I think Joe is looking forward to doing some highway runs against you in stock form. Once you get the Vishnu stage 2+, you can run him when he upgrades to a M5. Quote:
It should be noted that Chris has 20" radenergies which should slow him down a bit due to their weight. Also, with these type of runs, the traditional 6-speed manual looks to give me an advantage over the e60s who run SMG or step. Not that it makes a difference, but I'm running PS2s up front and some goodyear GS F1-D3s due to a pair of flat tires. I was actually supposed to do some canyon runs today, so I upped the tire pressure to about 42 or so in the rear. If I left it lower, it may have helped with my launches. Anyhow, post up the vids. I was looking forward to watching them before I went to bed. No need to wait for the other thread. |

Ah ya my bad, thought they had some bolt ons. But cool deal anwyays. Hell ya im waiting for chris to get his s/c for sure. See what I can do vs that with the xede upgrade. I wanna see if he can hook me up with some tires. I need some 275's in the rear at least. Ill start uploading them now, its going to take a while to load all the videos but no worries. Ya joe i think will be gunning for that m5 more than the s/c now. Did he make it home fine?

Cool vids. It seems so slow on camera though. Nothing like actually being there in person.
For that one vid from a dig, I think we got up to about 120 or so. I remember glancing at the speedometer and getting hard on the brakes for the upcoming red light. |
