What is this? Found it while installing downpipes

Hey all...

Helping someone do a DP install. After removing the plastic shield, found an 'extra' hose near the cats. Unsure what it's for.

As you can see in the pics, it is a rubber hose. I assume a vacuum line? It ends near the DP cat and starts somewhere towards the front of the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update!

I was following it with my hand to determine where it starts. While doing so, it fell out!

It's approximately 2 feet long. I can't imagine what it goes to. The car was CPO. Perhaps this is part of an aftermarket mod?!

Does meth or nitrious use a vacuum line?!

I've read the DIYs a couple time and it doesn't talk about any line. Is the line braided? Take more zoom pics of the actual ends and lines.

Also, are you using a lift? Where?

It's not very hard, not too soft. (thats what she said). Its not braided. It looks like a typical vacuum line. Definitely rubber and not plastic. It doesn't even have signs if wear. Almost like it was never used?! I'll take another picture when I have a moment.

my thought, maybe was the car in service before and dealer replaced one of the vacuum hose but somehow the old hose dropped and they were too lazy to dig it back out?
that's why it was hanging there until you take the under-tray cover off and you were able to see it?

just my assumption, cuz you know how dealer does their job... nothing is perfect.

ie: one time they replaced my HPFP and broke my tmap sensor clip. one time they replaced my headlight but didn't really install it back properly and my whole bumper was off place, etc etc...

Good pictures and good editing. I am glad to see there are users that know how to take good pics with good focus and reduce them to Forum-friendly size.

I have no idea but I am leaning towards it being a drain tube for something. Is there *any* recognizable residue inside? Could it be a drain tube for a previously installed OCC?

There's nothing inside but some dust. Doesn't smell at all.

At this point, I'm thinking lawwaloik is right. Dealer probably dropped it and forgot about it.

BTW, I'm still working on the downpipes. This is taking quite a while to remove/install 30 someodd screws and bolts. When people say there isn't much room, they're not kidding. I literally LOL when I saw the amount of space for my hands and tools. In fact, I had to drive to the store to buy a stubby wrench for the O2 sensors. For those unaware, it takes 7/8" or 22mm and it's nearly impossible to find one that isn't 1ft long.

blistik, You don't need a lift. Jack stands get the car high enough. That's not the problem. The problem is tweaking your hands and tools to fit. Damn near feel like I have arthritis!

Yup... I also have a freakin headache from wrestling with these downpipes. My god, do I need to go to the store again and find another tool?! It seems like there's no room for anything.
