Advice for my Addiction...to my BMW
OKAY...since this is my 1st BMW after many years of lusting and saving, and lusting some more...can anyone please help me, because I am having a problem...here goes:
1) Since I picked up the car Friday in South Carolina, I have wanted to drive it non-stop. If it were not for snow on Sunday I think I would have put about 500 miles on it. I think about driving it all the time and even made a list of the routes I want to take when the weather is clear...I've also been checking weather.com feverishly for a 10-day forecast so I can plan drive times... 2) When I am at home, I look at the car in the garage about 50 times a night. Just open the door, and stare into the bay at the car. The other night I got in it just to listen to my iPod in there...my wife had to pry me out of the car. 3) I want to wipe down the body and rims at all times...even the slightest speck of dirt drives me nuts. I am having nightmares about scratches that seriously disturb me, and the one tiny rock ding we got on the ride home from SC still bugs me... 4) I drove the car to work yesterday, and parked at the far reaches of our parking lot...but I still looked out the window 100+ times, and just for kicks took a couple sanity breaks out to see the car... I'm a regular guy, with a regular corporate job, and a normal marraige, etc, etc...but I am obsessed with this car (in a good way)...I think it is the greatest thing to happen to me (EVER). Does this euphoria go away? Do all of you feel this way? Am I supposed to be this distracted? I wouldnt trade my car for 2 weeks with Jessica Alba and $1M dollars...seriously. Have I finally lost it...? Help. Schedule an intervention soon...or someone tell me this is how great it is to be a BMW owner (and explain to my wife that I am not nuts).

Ahhh the honeymoon period. I remember/miss that feeling Don't get me wrong, my car still gives me the giggles but those first few days were something else
Here's an advice, if you're planning mods, space them out. Everytime you need a pick me up, do a small mod or two and the love will come rushing back

Actually, we are starting to involve spouses/partners now at our meets/events. At the last meet, an informal support group was formed among those who were dragged along. Worked out well, they had a great time as well

It's normal, great feeling to have such a great car But don't get too blindsided / obsessed, we all have normal lives and I've spent way too much time on this board... must... stop!

Now, try owning a JB one... Before transferring off the ship in Norfolk, I was averaging a wash a day to keep the salt spray and birds off the paint. I'll relax somewhat when I can get David to Zaino it for me... which reminds me that I need to detail the inside (again)

Welcome to the BMW club Scott. It's all normal behaviour. I went through it for at least 3 months. The cold weather has stopped me from spending time "with" the car on the weekends, but whenever it hits 45 I'm out there.
