40,000 miles - no HPFP issues yet. Replace under recall or wait?

I have a 2007 E92 with the N54 with 40,000 miles. I've been lucky and haven't had any fuel pump issues yet.

You think I should get my pump replaced under this recall or wait until I have symptoms?

My car is at 48k on the orig HPFP. However sometimes at lower RPMs in high gear i have noticed a hicup everynow and then, but its only one little very slight jerk.

some people have said its just the JB3 tuning, but im not sure

as far as I know, there is no working hpfp as of yet since even the n55 engines are having hpfp failures. I've seen hpfp's go out at 2000 miles too so there's no real point in getting the "updated" version of the hpfp. You'd be just wasting your time trying to get it replaced at th dealership. Keep it till it fails.

I would definitely go with the "if it isnt broken, dont fix it" mentality. Mine went out at about 55k, so theres still a possibility yours isnt out of the clear though.

Wait....I'm at 25K and will just wait until failure. I'd be even more suspicious of a computer reprogram to "solve" the problem

I would wait and thats what i am going to do...Even if your warranty runs out, being that there is a recall, the dealership will STILL have to honor it and fix it for free regardless of how long you waited to get it changed out..

All they'll do is update your software most likely.

don't do anything if it's not broke. Even if the dealer is willing to replace it, you could be getting one that will fail sooner than your original one.

Is it up to you to decide or your BMW? Wait to get the recall letter and see what it says.

Up to BMW. The recall has not been officially issued yet, so I guess there is still a chance a reliable pump has been implemented. But if the recall states what the letter to the EPA does, they will read your key, do nothing, update your software, or replace your pump. Same thing they've been doing.

Id wait till there is any reason to believe that they are replacing it with a new pump that will never die.

People are still talking like this recall is something new. If you read the wording it is exactly the same thing they have been doing.
I'd wait.
