Question Thrown service engine light...Procede issue?

Hey guys....Never had a problem with my car since modding and installing the procede4. Until last night!!

Made a turn and got on her hard, when she shifted into third it was highly sluggish so I let off then saw the service engine light flashing then come on. After that the car seemed bumpy and sluggish, all engine issues. Maybe went into 3 cylinder mode, don't know. After about 5 minutes of this, the service engine light went off and the car went back to normal. I have a code reader, but Im not sure its up to date to use on a 2009 BMW, so that I could go back through the history of thrown codes.

Has anyone had a similar issue?? What code reader should I get, ever since I started modding I always had one handy for my cars just for this reason.

Thanks for any input.....

You hook up your laptop to the car to see what code may be retrievable by the V4 software?

BTW, no such thing as "3 cylinder mode".

I would assume a code reader would be quicker than taking off the panels and hooking PC up to it. So no, I have not done that. If I get time today I just may do that if I cannot use my reader.

Even with this happening Ive had a blast running this car. It seems to always surprise me how much horsepower I have gotten...By far the best car I have driven!

I will check my reader later and post if I see anything!

So this car doesnt have a safety mode? My Denali will run on every other cylinder when in safety mode. It felt the same...just curious.

It has limp mode which is reduced power, usually no boost I believe.

You can use the software the v4 has via laptop to attain some codes. I'm assuming you dont have the cable necessary to hook up to the procede?

You would need to purchase that as well.

You can also use features if you have the updated firmware of the v4 to reset codes and adaptations which may help as well.

Its likely a "fluke" about the CEL.

It could mean your going to run into an issue of needing to replace sparkplugs, coilpacks, injectors and or fuel pump.

Or you can purchase what is known as a Bavarian Technic tool.

Could be a few different codes, but most likely a misfire code. You can read the code with the Procede. But you will need to hook up your laptop. If you're not sure how to do that, go here: http://vishnutuningforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2

Once you confirm the code, give us a call at the toll free number and we can walk you through the trouble-shooting process. Very simple.

Also, if you had a prior tune, it may just be a matter of resetting adaptations (lambda, knock, octane and throttle) which you can do through the Procede Command Center. You don't even need a laptop to do this. Again, we can help you with that over the phone (M-F, 9-4pm)

Thanks for your response, makes me feel good that your around and quick to respond. I will purchase the cord so that I can do this..If only other companies did this everyone would be happy!

My code reader most deff will not work with my BMW.
