Designing My Own Scoops

Hey guys. So I was bored, and I like little projects I can do so I started designing my own scoops. I know the functionality of scoops is pretty debatable but I enjoy working with metal and designing stuff.

I'm gonna pick up some sheet this week and start working on it. I'll update with pics as I go along.

Now I've seen some companies threatening to sue guys for making their own scoops. So here goes:

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT IN ANY WAY ATTEMPTING TO REPLICATE ANY DESIGN CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET. I TOOK MY OWN DIMENSIONS AND WORKED WITH THOSE TO CREATE A SCOOP WHICH IS UNINTENDED TO COMPETE WITH ANY BUSINESS OR COMPANY. THESE ARE NOT FOR SALE.

I'd look into a more shallow/wider design personally if I were to make my own.

Just some food for thought. Can get more air in, and produce a high pressure zone feeding in.

I've also made a couple of homemade scoops, not as beautiful as yours, but they only took me a Sunday evening to make...
They have been working flawless for over a year now, combined with my homemade DCI heatshield.

Couple more pics. the first one has a blue surface which represents the metal block above and behind the grills. The second picture shows the side profile, with the block simulated in orange.

JPSlick:I think its pretty deep. I figured a shallower scoop may actually inhibit airflow at lower speeds. The shallow curve at the bottom of the scoop is supposed to increase air velocity at higher speeds.

BigTom: Ive seen those scoops, but wanted something with a little more of a gradual incline into the intake.
