Decided to make the jump to......

JB3!!!

Now, as most people, I was VERY skeptic about piggybacks, mainly because reliability and such and the ever present "TUNER CODE" and was leaning towards a ECU flash..... but when one of the forum guys was selling a JB3 pinout for a price that was tempting I said "let me try and see".

Now, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The power is unbelievable!!! My car is on steroids!!!! Throttle response is on point, shoots up to redline like its a joke, 1,2,3rd gear the tires are trying to find grip and when they do, here we go!!!!!!!!!! Now I really have to consider what tires to get for summer next year. And I have only tried map 3 so far. Installation took a bit (pinout) but I chose to take my time. I can say that I am VERY, VERY satisfired with my investment.

Now waiting on the BT scan tool and see if any codes pop up and other things that are on the way.

Stay tuned..........

Nick

I don't know if i'll do meth since I don't do drag racing. I'm mostly on circuit. But there is always a 1st time.....

It's ALOT better for the circuit than drag racing. When we drag there's always time in between pulls to eliminate the heatsoak. On the track your intercooler starts to put out air over 120*F after the first 3 gears and it won't cool off till you turn off the track. I know the big tom intercooler is a little extreme for you but they do have meth kits that can be quickly and cleanly removed for a warranty car. And you'll have a margin of safety while running maps 7-8 . It all boils down to different strokes.

For circuit racing I would do Downpipes, intercooler and camber plates before anything else.

Also invest in a good set of wheels/track tires (R compound) and street/track pads.

Good one KC. I'm still debating though. We need to talk though about those kits you mentioned.

Rix, it's a definite power changer. I should have done the jump a looooong time ago. Now I am waiting for the JB4 release and upgrade. With teh abilities the system had for updating, modifying and tweaking, you cannot beat the price.!!

Sorry it took a bit to answer, once you install it it can be disabled so you can run stock. There are instructions on how you can do this. If you are warranty concerned like me, you can uninstall and when you come back from the dealer re-install. Its up to you. Best to get the combination of BT scan tool and JB3 or JB4 which should be out now.

Stress on the engine i don't really worry about as I only enable the JB3 when i'm at the track. If i want to have "fun" driving I mostly will run MAP 3 and keep it conservative.

Thank you for the information. Iam thinking about buying one and just removing it when I take it to the shop, like you do. Is it a pain to install some yuotube videos I have seen seem like there is a number of things to remove to get to everything.
